'10 IL WR Kyle Prater

it's not false. just like Cornelius Ingram he'd be on football scholarship but be allowed to play with the basketball team. Henderson plays AAU ball and loves basketball. Florida's shown a need for someone with a little junk in the trunk down low and it's bonus that he wouldn't count against the basketball scholarship limit. at worst he's worth 5 fouls. Donovan's already talked to him about it.

It's definitely 100% false. He'll entertain talks with coaches during recruitment just like 99.9% of other football recruits who dream of playing both - and just like them he won't step foot on the hardwood.

It's definitely not up to Donovan. It's 100% up to whomever is the next coach at UF if he signs there. He's a football player first. And I said 99% - so there are few exceptions - with an emphasis on few.

Donovan has to want him on the team but yes the football coach has to allow it. Fortunately the football coach is Urban Meyer (no matter how much you wish it not to be) and he's okay with it. Basketball for big guys like Henderson helps their agility. He would only join the basketball team full time after the bowl game is over.

And yes Meyer also has a history of permitting two-sport athletes to miss spring football.

I thought this was a Kyle Prater thread. Who gives about Henderson being two sport at UF. This is a UT thread, dang. Back to Prater please.

If you say so. You're going to be extremely devastated come August if you're really that naive to believe so.

And it doesn't matter when he joins the team - it's going to have some negative effects on you playing two sports (that overlap in terms of the season or off-season trainings) - time will always be limited.

yes ultimately there will be pressure to dump the second sport but it can be done. didn't seem to hurt Riley Cooper missing spring football the past two years.

my point isn't saying for certain that Henderson will be on the basketball team if he chooses UF because Henderson could choose to focus solely on football . i'm saying that Meyer and Donovan have made that an option for him.

With all the talk of Prater and Rogers, do we really need another WR in this class? With limited space left, don't we have other positions we need to fill? OL, LB, DT, and probably one RB.

If we were going to take Rogers, we can take Prater. I'd take Prater over Rogers any day. Not saying I don't want Rogers but Prater is real good. He had a bad game today, but that was because of all the stuff going on with USC. I still wouldn't count out Oklahoma for Prater though. Could you imagine our WR's though with Prater and Kippy coaching them!!!!!!

One of the announcers today said he may put off EE because of the PC situation.

And there are signs he is planning to based on the latest Carroll to Seattle article on ESPN.com:

"Prater said on NBC's broadcast Saturday of the All-American Bowl that he had spoken to Trojans passing game coordinator/receivers coach John Morton and he would discuss things further with his family and advisers before making a decision on enrolling at USC.

Prater said he was scheduled to fly to Los Angeles to sign with the team and enroll in classes starting Monday but would postpone the trip."

Did that interview happen after he put on a SC hat on a pre-recorded verbal?

He never put a hat on in an announcement. he committed to USC months ago. That interview was held just before the game started. the way he talked he wont be going to USC.

Prater is just so much slower than rogers though, it is obvious when u watch their highlights. What do u all think makes Prater that much better?

Actually they showed him putting on a USC hat with two other guys, one apparently is Dillion Baxter, actually in a pre-recorded tape. I found it funny they showed it because it had to be shot before the Carroll to Seattle story broke out.

height advantage, bigger vertical, better hands(excuding the aa game in which it was clear he was mentally/emotionally not present)
