'10 GA OLB Michael Taylor

No one should fault any of these young men. They are making tough decisions at an early age that will possibly affect the rest of their lives. We should do no less than applaud them for making such a difficult decision. You have to remember, these guys wanted to come here. Going somewhere else is second to their initial plans.

If this kid is as good as most think, he will succeed at Florida. The Vols...and those of us on this board...wouldn't have wanted him so badly if he was only going to be as good as the 5th linebacker on the Gators.

He will do well. And we need to replace him with someone who will do better.

ok florida didn't want him until after the ua game
It played out like this...
Durkin (our new LB coach) recruited Taylor while at Stanford. Durkin and Taylor developed a relationship, so when Durkin came to UF - the relationship with Taylor was already established. When Kiffin decided to leave, that made the decision final.

I think Taylor had at least a foot in the door at UF even before The Weasel left.

Really like Taylor alot! Sad day in knoxville for myself to find out it is final that he is a gator! Can only hope the best for him besides when he plays us. Wish he would have been committed to the school and not the fake coach we had!

Gators still on fire, Under Armour talent Michael Taylor commits

ESPNU 150 outside linebacker Michael Taylor (Atlanta/Westlake) has committed to Florida, ESPN's Billy Tucker reports.

Taylor, who decommitted from Tennessee following the coaching change, was also recruited by Miami-FL, LSU, Georgia, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, N.C. State and Virginia Tech among several others.

"When I got the offer last week my mom cried and I knew it was the school for me. I fell in love with Florida the university on my visit, not just the coaches. I feel Florida will take me where I want to go with my life," he said.

ESPN's Billy Tucker commented on Taylor's new choice, "While we thought Tennessee was a great fit for this explosive linebacker, Taylor may project even better as a future Gator. UF will remain a fast attacking, high-temp defense even without coach Charlie Strong signaling in the defense and Taylor is one of the faster pursuers in this class."

"He may not be the biggest but he gets over the trash quickly and has striking burst closing in space. Taylor is a bit of an overachiever but don't underestimate this Under Armour All-American Game MVP -- he's a gamer and a guy who will set the tempo of the defense with his play in the Swamp."

YAHHH. We couldn't evaluate talent, but we lucked into this kid performing well in an all-star game. Our coach got emotional with him and he wanted to be a gator in his heart. Go cry or hug it out with some people on your board. :good!:

"On that Sunday when I was in Gainesville I met with the coaches," Michael Taylor said. "They offered me and my mom broke down in tears and that was the first time I saw her cry. They told me it was a big moment in my life, so I stood up and did the Gator chomp. Coach Meyer gave me a hug and asked me if that meant I was a Gator and I told him, 'yes sir.'

This is absolutely the gayest thing I've ever read in my life.

lol, they had to tell him that it was a big moment in his life.

I know, there are too many things funny about that whole situation it's hard to point out one. The first time he's seen him Mom cry? haha him commiting by standing up and doing the gator chomp(probably after sitting there with tears in his eyes). Then Meyer being unsure if that means he commited or not. haha

I can picture is so clearly.

The only thing that could have made this better(and I use that term loosely) is if Meyer threw him his first pair of Jorts.

With their LB talent, I would not be surprised at all if he never starts a game at UF. He needs to get quite a bit larger to play LB in the SEC. I thought this when he was committed to us, and still believe it.

Yeah, I think that too. I can't help think "short stack" everytime I see him. Although he is a good player.

I got something you can chomp on....

He's the same size as Dustin Doe, maybe even a bit taller. And Doe started at UF off and on for 3 years.

I hope he does start for the gators... and I hope Bryce Brown leaves cleat prints across his face and chest on the way to the end zone.

I think he'll be a good player for UF if he ever sees the field. I won't throw the kid's ability under the bus just because he is a Gator.

That was the gayest commitment story I've heard in a long while though.
