'10 GA OLB Michael Taylor

Why are we still talking about this guy, is he thinking about transferring here or something? If not, then why bring up the past? It's over and done with, let it go.

At the time, my impression was that Taylor and his Mom were over-dazzled by the whole Urban Meyer, Florida National Champions thing. They weren't the only ones.

The fall out from this will be interesting. Days are going to be very precious for UF. The more days they go without a coach, the worse things will get. Boy does that coach that comes in have ALOT of work to do. Honestly, itll be comparable to what CDD had to do with our recruits last year.

except meyer had the talent to win another championship even without this class where as dooley had close to zilch.

It's worse in some aspects but better than others. The new coach is walking in 7 days before EE deadline. He also has to save and get other recruits before NSD. CDD walked in after EE's were already here and had went to class. Much of the class was already locked with the decision to stay or sit out a year. CDD did do a great job at getting players like Stone and Rogers though with no program to sell. The new FL coach can sell that the team is already loaded but does that mean much to a new guy coming in?

Personally, CUM shot his wad about 7 days to soon in my opinion. He should have waited till after the EE's were there and in class and then had his meltdown. Poor UF, CUM just couldn't hold it in any longer.

hahaha you're joking right? When CDD was hired, our players and recruits had to google him just to find out who he was and where he came from. Florida is chock full of YOUNG stud athletes, they have the ability to bring in a top tier coach, they have 1 month longer than CDD did, and they have the luxury of (I'm sure) having Meyer give his blessing to the new coach - in which he will talk about how the new coach will continue the winning ways, etc etc.... This is in NO WAY the same situation CDD was faced with

They won't make a hire that soon.

I am talking about having to come in and try to keep the YOUNG STUDS from leaving. That is a hard job to do.

silliness

I didn't say he wasn't a good player. My point was that Kiffin was in Meyer's head in a bad way... it is about the only thing I miss about Kiffin.

He had Meyer on a string and especially after Kiffin taunted Meyer over Nuke and Teague.

No it's not. You just don't release them and then give the hiring coach a chance to sit down and talk to them. You forget that these are 18 year old kids. They aren't staying because the coach knows the most x's and o's, as long as the coach relates to them, gives them a sales pitch, then I guarantee you very few, if any, of these young studs will transfer... If you remember, when we were going through our carousel last year all of our recruits threatened to leave as well (even jacques smith and corey miller) but when they had a chance to meet and talk with Dooley everyone stayed. And my guess is that if Brandon Willis had left his home just a few hours earlier, he too would be a Vol right now.

That is why I am saying that the longer this goes on, the worse it will be for FLA. No matter who the coach is, it will be hard to keep all of them. I can guarantee you that.

And yes it is a hard job. What Dooley did last year was a modern day miracle. I was here, I saw it first hand.

The miracle was that Dooley was able to pull in NEW recruits, not the ones that were alraedy here or the new recruits that were already on campus. Mike Hamilton laying the law down and not releasing the new recruits was what saved that class. If you remember, ESPN had a big deal about how that act would come back to negatively affect our recruiting in the future. I'm not downplaying what Dooley did, in fact I'm upgrading it. B/c what he did and the class he was able to pull off will be far more impressive than what the new coach at UF will have to do.

Dooley did do an amazing job in getting the NEW recruits. But he had a keep the OLD recruits. You are seriously lacking some perspective on this if you think that it was easy for him to come in and keep the people that were already committed. That was almost if not more impressive than getting the new ones.

Yea with Urbie coaching until Bowl Game, I think there will be ample time to swoop in and take some recruits.

I agree that the CUM was premature on his exit...

For one, I'm not talking about the old committed recruits (a lot of whom we actually lost) but the 11 or so Freshman that weren't committed, but were already part of the team (even though they had just shown up 24 hours earlier). For them to leave would have required them to go through the same steps as any other current player - i.e. request a release (which they weren't going to get per Mike Hamilton's rule) and sit out 1 year and more than likely pay their own way for that one year.... Sure, it was difficult for Dooley to keep the freshman that weren't EE's and were just committed - which is why he didn't really keep many - but for those already on campus it wasn't nearly as difficult as bringing in new recruits for the simple reason that they were already part of the University and no longer considered "recruits."
