'10 GA OLB Michael Taylor

The MLB dropping deep into pass coverage is part of the Tampa 2 package. But is it part of our base defensive package? Because from what I have seen we dont actually run very much Tampa 2. We only run that package is 3rd down and long situations.

Correct, from what I have seen, we run very little Tampa 2.

Yeah thats a disgrace having him ranked as low as they do. Look on the brightside though he might play with a chip on his shoulder because of it.

I agree with this totally. I think Luc would be a better SLB in this scheme than a middle. I'm no expert though and Monte is the best at adapting his defense to the strengths of his team. If Taylor and Luc are two of his best LBs you better believe he'll find a way to get them on the field at the same time.

I love watching this defense. It's so much fun to watch. You never know what they are going to do. I mean, I can't ever remember using so much contain with the DEs and you hardly ever see a true Tampa 2. A lot of times you will see a form of it on 3rd down where there are two deep S corners playing man and a LB dropping back, but sometimes it may be an OLB dropping into coverage rather than a Middle. It's just plain awesome.

Against Bama, we played Tampa-2 a good bit in the first half. But that was really the first game of the season that we had a lot of it. Monte is the architect of it, but that doesnt mean that it is his primary or even secondary defensive scheme. I saw a LOT of cover-1 in the 2nd half when it was apparent that McElroy couldn't make any throw over 10 yards down the field.

There is a chance that Taylor could graduate in a matter of weeks and enroll at Tennessee.

"I hope to find out on Thursday," Taylor said. "I'm waiting on the status of an online class and another elective credit. It's crunch time. I'm working hard in the classroom and in the weight room. I want to be ready whenever I get to Tennessee."

"I know where I'm going," Taylor said. "I just entertain them, other coaches. I tell them that I'm solid to Tennessee, but they say they need me because they are thin at my position. I just don't want to be rude, but I'm all tunnel vision. I've made the right decision."

If he is able to enroll early and has eight months with bulking professionals than he will be fine...
