'10 FL OT Chaz Green

Doesnt UF use a zone-blocking scheme similar to us? We havent exactly been lighting up the NFL draft board with our OLine prospects either the later part of this decade. However, if putting players in the NFL was all that mattered to recruits, all the big time OL guys would go to UVA. I think our biggest advantage has got to be our stable of RB's. I honestly dont see a team with more young talent at the position in the country.....couple that with a coach that WILL run the ball no matter what.....thats got to be a fun thought for OL recruits.

We do run a zone blocking scheme. Also we have some talent at RB as well and we are top 10 in rushing.

yeah i guess. ingram is only a sophomore, and richardson is no scrub either.

I am tired of this refrain.

Trent Richardson < Bryce Brown.

Brown has a hip pointer and has been hurting most of the season. He will finish up drafted higher barring severe injury and more productive in college than Trent Richardson.

I dunno about that. I think it will be close between bryce and trent when it comes down to draft day. They both have major potential. Richardson has really impressed me so far. The guy doesn't go down and i'm serious. It always seems to take like 4 guys to tackle him and they just push him back but he always seems to stay on his feet. Anyone else notice this? Make no mistake, the kid is a beast for a freshman. Since bryce is injured we can't really compare them yet. They haven't different styles as well. I think bryce will be awesome though FWIW

He's not talking about gimmicks and trickery. He's talking about a real rushing attack...

None of our running has come from trickery or gimmicks. The whole year has been pound up the middle on dive plays for the most part. We've been very conservative with playcalling this year so the running yards aren't coming from trickery or gimmicks.

Did you just say your RBs "pound" up the middle? :lolabove:

And yes, when every play you run comes out of the option-dive, that is called a gimmick imo. It's a junk offense...

Their offense is similar to Georgia Tech's offense. There is a lot of misdirection going on. Tech is a LOT more solid in the run game than Florida is though.

Both offenses need a TANK at quarterback (Josh Nesbitt is the equivalent of Tim Tebow when it comes to importance to the team). When those guys are gone, I bet the offense will struggle.

I'd say Florida's offense is a lot more "gimmicky" and uses more trickery than Tech's. With Georgia Tech, you know they are going to run the ball pretty much every play. With Florida, they can let Tebow run up the middle (which they call "pounding" their running game) or he can hand it off to their little speed backs....or he can do his fake run and then pass the ball.

Florida will NOT have a running game when Tebow is gone.

UF doesn't have success running the ball unless Tebow is running. Meyer tried to minimize TT's carries against UT and UF's ground game was getting stuffed. When TT started running, things opened up more for the others.

UF will have to change things somehow next year to continue to run effectively.

I don't think you really call a running QB a gimmick. But if these OL's want to play in an offense that will show NFL scouts exactly what they're looking for then UT is a better choice than UF.

I agree. Playing is a pro-style offense is much more attractive to NFL Scouts than in a spread offense, especially when it comes to Offensive Lineman. It has always been that way.

You have to understand that this offense won't be the same when we have Brantley. I'm not sure why people don't understand that. Urban has adjusted his offense to fit Tebow's strengths and he will do the same to fit Brantley's strengths.

that gator fan who said their team runs a zone blocking scheme is dead wrong. As you may notice alot of floridas plays this year are dives straight up the middle with an Oline man blocking down and pulling. The Olineman arent blocking in the same direction. In the zone scheme o lineman reach their outside man and push him up field and to the sideline creating a lot of different holes to run through. In floridas offense their is 1 pre determined hole to run through sprinkled in with out of midirection. I cant believe a florida fan doesnt even know what his own team runs hahahaahahahhah
