'10 FL OT Chaz Green

I think we all have to agree that this is the weakest set of LBs UT has had in awhile. Monte is goin to make it with what he has, and the best thing he had at MLB was Reveiz, Savion was the 2nd man. Now u are going to tell me that im past LB corps we have had Reveiz would still be the guy b/c he is smart and has heart. I guarentee u Nick is smarter than Al Wilson, but I bet someone with Al's talent would trump Nick everyday.

See you are running off the impression that Nick does not have talent. We are not saying he plays just because he is smart and that is all. He has physical talent. Have you ever seen the guy. He is most likely the strongest LB on the team. He is not a speed demon but he runs well enough. He does not take very many false steps on his keys and that results in him getting to the play just as fast as a player that might be a step faster. He is also the best tackler on the LB corp. He has great technique and wraps up. I think Nick could have started for quite a few of our LB corps over the past years.

2 freshman olineman that start? Or just 2 that get playing time? I think Douglas, Schofield, Shaw all will have positions locked down. I also think Revis most likely locks down the center spot. That leaves one guard spot that might be manned by a freshman. I think Chaz Green would have a good shot to beat out Pope at the other guard spot. Other than that, I dont see a freshman olineman starting. I certainly think we will see a couple in the 2-deep though.

Schoefield absolultely does not have a starting position locked down. Personally I will be very surprised if he starts next year.

Agree to disagree on that opinion. I think he was very underrated last season. Reports about him since he has been on campus are very positive. I think he has much more potential to win the job than Thomas.

Schoefield has a ton of potential and is very athletic. But he has a long long way to go mentally and technically to ever become a starter in the SEC. I expect it will eventually happen but not as a redshirt freshman.

I love UT football and we are all going to vary on what we think, which makes volnation so fun. But no matter what come Saturday we will all support our orange no matter who is playing, even Crompton, lol.

Read some interesting stuff on Green today.

During his visit, he was told quite often that he needs to play in a conventional offense and not the spread; the coaches basically point blank told him UF can't put o-line man in the NFL. The best argument they made was playing time. He was virtually assured PT at UT where at UF he would be further down the depth chart considering we signed two of the top tackle prospects the last 2 years in Patchan and Nixon. Also he is visiting USC this weekend and apparently they have him at the top of their Oline board and are going all out to try to steal him away. A recruiting source in Florida said that UF has a better shot at landing Christian Green than Chaz.

I found this interesting because at best i see Christian Green as a 50/50 chance.
This one seems like its going to be a dog fight to the very end for his signature.

That is pretty interesting. There is a lot of upside to running a zone blocking scheme for O-linemen. A lot of NFL teams do it, but you have to be a certain type of player to excel in it.

Same can be said for the spread, but that is a very different scheme to learn for four years and then to forget if you can make the NFL.

Would be interesting to know, and I'm sure the staff does, how many OL have been drafted from spread teams. WVU, UF, TTU, etc. They may be on to something.

Also, I'd like to know the same information about RB's and WR's. QB's are pretty obvious.

Little did we know that the measly 3star King would be the best freshman LB...

was the number one LB that Monte wanted from the high school film he looked at. Was the first recruit he went to see.

I had a pretty good idea he was going to get some play time. :)

You should clue us in on that kind of thing, Larry! :p

Pretty reliable I guess. He's one of the 5 Rivals guys. It's him, Crabtree, Farrell, Newberg, and Every...

Yea. Unbaised was mentioned and I agree here. If the guy says something like that there has to be something he knows or got from someone who is reliable to him.

IIRC, Crabtree is probably the most reliable. The rest range anywhere from great to crap depending on the prospect, blah blah blah
