Yes, I agree they want Hicks the most. But I do not think they are at the point where they feel like they have Shirley 'in the bag' and haves stopped pushing for Luc. I feel like they are still recruiting him very hard.
I thought that Maryland was won of the programs that had the "Named Head Coaching Successor" like Texas and Florida State.
They maybe, but one has to wonder at this point that if Florida was really that much in play, then why hasn't he pulled the trigger?? I think it's because he doesn't want to play for one season for Strong and then Strong leaves, IMO. I don't necessarily know what Luc will do, but I like our chances right now.
The vast majority of boosters care more about winning than taking a stance on interracial marriage.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, and that is particularly the case up north. And you are right that if Strong or Turner Gill did win then it would quickly go away, but I do think it plays a factor in regards to getting hired, especially for an SEC school.
I think many influential boosters in the south (a.k.a. old white rich men) if put in a position to hire a good position coach who is white or a good position coach who is black and married to a white woman, that they will side in favor of the white guy. I'm not trying to start a race debate or anything, but I think that is just how it is... You are right, AD's don't give two Sh&^s about it as long as the coach wins, etc., but I think the fact that Dan Mullen got an SEC gig without any prior HC experience and Charlie Strong hasn't been strongly considered for any HC job reveals something - and it has more to do than the fact that he lacks something on his resume.

Charlie Strong being married to a white woman has impacted him negatively by his own admission in recruiting black athletes whose moms are upset by his marriage. That is the part that is rarely discussed. Much easier to blame the old white boosters. I wonder how many on here have multiracial families like I do or have personally felt the discrimination that comes from lots more than the white community to interracial relationships.
