At USC underclassmen can play early if they are good enough.

Not jumping Aaron Corp and I doubt he jumps Barkley. Rivals and Scout both rank Barkley as the #1 quarterback for his class. They have Scroggins ranked as #6/#7 and the quarterback class is considered weak. Doesn't mean Scroggins can't be better or won't jump Barkley but I really doubt he will.

If I am wrong Yes you can smack me....I hope I am wrong guys. But I am not

I am frequently on Volquest and there are a lot of inside info guys over there. He is a lock to go to USC...Sorry to sound negative but I am just being truthful.....

The coaches have really dropped the ball on our QB situation.

It's cool. I don't mind people thinking we won't get him. I just don't care for the comments saying USC is a done deal. USC may very will be the leaders in landing him but I think Tennessee has a shot. Hopefully Lane, O, Thompson, Reaves, Gran and Monte are all keeping in contact with him. That has to be a hard group to reject.

Im just wondering what ever happened to Malik Stokes

I figured he would be a Michigan lock since his brother signed there (after decommitting from UT on signing day), but Michigan hasn't even offered Malik. In fact, his Rivals profile shows that his only offer is from Central Michigan...

I know absolutely nothing when i comes to USC's depth. So i was just throwing it up there about playing time at USC.

Are any of these folks your "insiders", because none had Rettig going to BC?

This still doesn't make sense...If Scroggins was indeed USC bound, why would Rettig choose BC over a Tennessee depth chart that is desperate. Something doesn't add up here and I like it. He could have caught wind of Scroggins to UT and decided to play it safe with BC knowing that he could pick up a USC offer anytime and commit.

Was thinking.... does Scroggins want to be the man? Like I said, if he goes to USC... it's not that big of deal to USC's fan base. They get top quarterbacks all the time. Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, John David Booty, Mark Sanchez and most recently number one rated quarterback Matt Barkley.

Now... look at our fan base. We were already pumped about the possibility of landing Scroggins. Now that he is the only good quarterback left on the board, our fan base is frantic. If he were to commit, Jesse Scroggins would be the man! Tennessee fans would go nuts! Landing him would be huge in so many ways. A quarterback for the future. He would land some top prospects. If he makes the decision to come to Tennessee, he will be the big man on campus. He has relished the role at his high school if you haven't noticed. Maybe 105,000 screaming fans is too much to shoulder at his age. He would be 2-3 years older before he got his shot in Pasadena and would be in front of 13,000 fewer fans. Maybe that's what he wants but he'd be hero here and his impact would be felt immediately. The dominoes would fall in a huge way.

So does anyone have a definitive [verbal] commitment date for J.S.? There was a pretty sure date of July 25th at the Elite 11 camp but I've also heard rumblings of an earlier date, say later this week at a 7-on-7 camp? What's the deally-yo?

I don't have a good feeling about this situation but I'm hoping he pulls a rabbit out of his arse and decides to be all Vol! I could not blame him for going to USC and playing for his dream school which happens to be one of (if not) THE best programs over the past decade or so. The obvious downside to that choice is the depth chart being loaded. The kid has to be (for obvious reasons) pretty confident in his being able to beat out USC's cuurent stable of QB's...that is his gamble in all this hoopla.

Not to be a complete homer but the choice to come to UT has more positives, all of which have been spelled out in previous posts. The only positive I forsee panning out for him is that his dad would be able to see him hold a clipboard week-in and week-out. Who knows Barkley may blow out his knee and Scroggins will be like Moxon in Varsity Blues...

If you haven't noticed... I'm excited for the 25th. It won't be the end of the world and I think Tennessee's program will be just fine after an 8, maybe 9 win season after a bowl game. But landing Scroggins turns the program around so much faster.

I think you might be overstating the view of the average UT fan by just a smidge.

thanks man for the video...good job.....anyone else got anything post it! we might want to start a JESSIE COME TO TENNESSEE thread and give him props and why we want him to come. i know people say ohhhh they hate that but thats BS lets show him how much tradition us UT fans have!!!

Hopefully this should clear some stuff up about Jacques and Scroggins.

I just got off the phone with him (he's a real nice kid, actually asked me how I was doing, he's the first guy to do that) and I asked him about Scroggins and he said he hasn't talked a whole lot to him, and only real contact he's had with Jesse has been messaging through myspace, and Jesse just gave him his top three and that was it. Also said he's trying hard to get James Stone to come to Tennessee, but that James is far from a decision. Said he's just excited to get on campus and start working.

In what sense? Have you seen some of the comments? A lot of people think the staff messed up. The staff put all their eggs in one basket and not landing a quarterback sets moving forward back a year. Or is it that I think Scroggins would have a bigger following at Tennessee than USC/Florida? He would do so much more for Tennessee than USC/Florida. Corp/Barkley, Tebow/Brantley.... they don't care if they get Scroggins. We do because we have Stephens and Rozier. Maybe Lamaison too. On top of it... USC and Florida don't need him to land recruits. They do that anyways. We on the other hand do need Scroggins to help land some of the top wide receivers and linemen. They don't want to play here if they have someone sucky throwing them the ball and have someone who is going to throw ints despite protection.

Who cares about the average fan? I'm talking about sports fanatics that bleed orange. People who are willing to go paint the rock in the middle of night. People who start drinking/tail gating at six in the morning.

You bet were nervous, this could be the difference in Kiffin failing or us getting back to Top 10 football.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE GOOD QB PLAY!!!!

I don't know if I would go that far. Lets say things go according to most of the 'expert' opinions and Scroggins goes with USC and we can only manage a 2nd rate QB this year. Crompton or Stephens will at least be serviceable this season. After a winning season and a bowl game, at least one '11 top 10 QB SHOULD be willing to jump on board and be our QB of the future. Stephens will give us another winning season and bowl game in '10. Our unnamed QB recruit graduates early and gets in for Spring practice and wins the starting job over the two studs Rozier and Lamaison and the 2nd rate QB we get this year. The way I look at, if Ainge and Schaeffer can start as true freshmen and fare well, then a top 3 QB from what is expected to be a much deeper QB class can as well (Maybe top 3 is stretching it a bit, but it can happen). After a respectable season and another full year of offseason workouts, our future QB is ready to carry us back to the SEC Championship in '12.

Is this longer than some people are willing to wait? Of course. Is a two year about face too much to expect from kiffin and staff? I think so. But my feeling is that what I just described is in all likelihood the worst case scenario.
