I don't know if I would go that far. Lets say things go according to most of the 'expert' opinions and Scroggins goes with USC and we can only manage a 2nd rate QB this year. Crompton or Stephens will at least be serviceable this season. After a winning season and a bowl game, at least one '11 top 10 QB SHOULD be willing to jump on board and be our QB of the future. Stephens will give us another winning season and bowl game in '10. Our unnamed QB recruit graduates early and gets in for Spring practice and wins the starting job over the two studs Rozier and Lamaison and the 2nd rate QB we get this year. The way I look at, if Ainge and Schaeffer can start as true freshmen and fare well, then a top 3 QB from what is expected to be a much deeper QB class can as well (Maybe top 3 is stretching it a bit, but it can happen). After a respectable season and another full year of offseason workouts, our future QB is ready to carry us back to the SEC Championship in '12.
Is this longer than some people are willing to wait? Of course. Is a two year about face too much to expect from kiffin and staff? I think so. But my feeling is that what I just described is in all likelihood the worst case scenario.
