I just watched the video...and I thouhgt it was very odd that the interviewer brought up UT more than USC or even Florida. I figured he would try to discuss all three schools equally. I'm definitely not getting that he coming to UT vibe from it but I do hope he comes here.

Total conspiracy theory here but maybe he knew or reads our boards and knew we believe we had lost him. Wanted us to know we were still in the picture cuz he is worried we may switch our loyalty as a board to Rettig.

There's no way he goes any where else. He could have easily redirected the answers to fit his true feelings. He could have mentioned UT tradition, and then talked about USC's. He could have discussed UT's fans and then talk about UF's fan ase from his visit. He knows and we all know he was not received at USC or UF like he was here at UT. The rock like he said was "fantastic", he'll e a Vol, it's just convincing his family that's what's best for HIM.

The problem is that he probably changes his mind every day right now as he tries to work through it.

One article suggests UT another USC then another makes you wonder how seriously he's considering UF. That's probably an accurate reflection of his struggles over this decision.

Dad is going to be the difference. He will put his foot down in the end if the kid isn't completely sold on USC.

Unfortunately that happens sometimes. I'm a parent myself and I just want to do what I think is best for my son. So I can understand his father wanting him to go to USC. I would like my son to go to UT but if he doesn't I wont make him. I just hope I can afford to send to college with this economy. I started a 429 for him and it's taken a hit but I still have about 10 more years before he's ready though.

I think he could care less what VN thinks about him. The coaching staff would be different story though. He will want to keep them on board until he makes his decision. He knows Rettig was offered but I don't think he is to worried about him either. If Rettig committed this week UT would still take Scroggins if he decided to commit on the 7/25.

He was also negative on the MySpace invasions as well. We will know very soon if the rock worked but it obviously made an impact. He looked the part of the leader to me and seems grounded.

Of course they would. How sweet would that be to go from having no QBs in this class to having Rettig and Scroggins? It's not going to happen though, IMO. Rettig will not do anything until Scroggins announces. Can't blame him either. He is actually in the drivers seat at the moment.

The kid will be on board with parents. Will not be a contentious situation. He grew up wanting to go to USC. Now he has a chance? So he is not going to fight Mom and Dad on that.

I would rather have Rettig...IMO he has more upside and a bigger arm..

That's basically what I was saying.

Depth being number 1 makes me feel a lil better, but i still think he will go to usc. The depth part is makin me think tho.

How are you interpreting depth?

Is he looking for a school that has no depth so he can maybe play right away?

or

Is he looking for a school that has depth already so he can sit, learn, mature and get stronger for a few years before having to play??

I haven't watched interview and don't intend. Hard to buy into thigs kdis say. Just wondering if he spoke to what he meant by depth?

It may have been some bad advice when I started it but it's been a while since it's been opened. It was great until the crap hit the fan. PM with some info.

I was just messing with you a bit, I'm assuming you were referring to a 529 plan. That's where the 100 point comment came from. Not bad advice to open one, its one of the best things you can do for college planning, lots of flexibility that didn't use to exist. Can't speak to the advice you got about the investments inside it though.

As for Scroggins, was the now infamous interview for a school TV station or something? That kid conducting it was definitely still in high school. Kind of odd that a high school kid from CA is asking specific questions about UT, even though I do not think there is any significance behind it at all.

I believe Jesse looks at the possibility of being a starter earlier here and making an impact in the top conference in the land. I would assume mothers always want their kids close to home but with family in state the situation is better than most going cross-country. I am also rooting for the favorite uncle being in Memphis.

she will be on board with Dad and JS.. even in the most conflict situaions (don't see this as much conflict at all), family usually gets together on decision

DUH! I feel silly now that I didn't catch that before. I did type 429. Thanks for correcting me on that.:)

If I was Rettig I would commit now. Assuming he likes it here. Make Scroggins think twice about coming. And make with the talent that is likely to be here in two years he would be in a good spot.
