1. My gut says JS goes elsewhere. My gut, though sizeable, is often known to be a dang liar. But sometimes it's right on the money. You don't ever know which it might be until the issue is resolved. It's better suited for hindsight, but it still says JS is not a Vol.
2. Tennessee's needs OL's about as much as a QB -maybe even more. I find it interesting that we get two OL commits on Monday, though they were offered at camps some time ago. Why this week and not last? Why not next week, or the one after? Is there any significance to the timing of their announcements?
3. Florida and USC have something that UT doesn't when it comes to JS's commitment - time - they can easily wait, and UT could least afford to do so. Considering that their efforts at recruiting on the offensive side of the ball are stalled until he signs, UT would not have wanted to delay his announcement.
4. CLK not only took recruits from CUM....he snatched them....and then convinced each to be, let's say, less than forthcoming in their decisions to switch allegiances. CUM would no doubt like to return the favor in similiar fashion. If JS were in my pocket so to speak, I'd have him drag UT along for as long as I could....before breaking their hearts. If I were a player who intended to play for CUM, I'd gladly play along.
5. Interesting that JS specifically mentioned meeting BB at the UT camp. Rumor has it that BB had to oppose the wishes of one or both parents to ultimately choose UT. JS's dad reportedly wants JS at USC. Wonder how long these two talked, and if they still do?
6. It's been well-documented that JS's father developed his own poor-man's QB-training regiment because the family could not afford to do otherwise. I wonder if he'll get used to his life-long project playing on the other side of the continent? I wonder how he'll afford to travel back and forth to Knoxville? His dad was quoted as saying that a single trip to Orlando was so financially taxing on the family that, ""It took us a while to get from under that,". Imagine the cost his parents would incur if they had to fly in and out of McGhee-Tyson, instead.
7. Of the three (3) schools remaining, its hard to believe Tennessee wouldn't see the greatest benefit of his making an announcement next week.
8. How cool would it be if we offered his cousin a scholly - which we all well know that MH would require that we honor - and then JS signs with Florida. Imagine the PR nightmare that CLK would face if he kicked the guy off or revoked his scholarship, thereafter, if he kept his nose clean? Imagine is CUM used him as a mole into the program?
9. Of late, JS has indicated that a packed depth-chart is not a prohibiting factor to selecting his school of choice - removing the single greatest knock against his signing with USC - but this wasn't always his stance. Recall Feldman's blog (ESPN) from June 3rd, when he said, "He says the biggest factors in his decision will be the depth chart (he'd be fine with redshirting but doesn't want to sit behind some starter for three years)...". I wondered what changed his mind in only 30 short days, if it has at all?
10. Feldmen also mentioned in the same blog that JS also listed a program's stability as being very important to him. CUM is most persistently rumored to want to jump to either the NFL or the Irish - and he just hired a new OC. The NCAA just combined the on-going investigations into allegations of USC's violations in both basketball and football. The Trojans just lost their OC and DC's. Remarkably, though CLK and co. have yet to call a single game, and depsite all of the controversies they've encountered, one could argue that they are the most stable of the three programs.
11. Do you think that dad put all of this hard work and effort in to JS's development, only to see him stop at the college level? Do you think that he likes the thought of JS being buried on a depth chart and (likely) only starting for a single year? Do you think that it's worth his son playing on the opposite side of the continent for 3-4 years to advance his chances of making the league, thereafter? Do you think that he likes the idea of his son playing in a system which they themselves admit is not welcomed in the NFL? How about playing in that same system as they attempt to "adapt" it to a more pro-style one, instead?
12. BB's "friend" had pics of him on his visit on her FB page. Then she removed them. Then she cancelled her entire account. He still signed with us. JS taking the rock off his FB might be of equal (or even less) significance to that.
