Give Meyer credit. He realizes his current system will falter against SEC DCs once Tebow is gone. That kid literally makes his system and the SEC has had ample time to key in on Meyer's spread. It's going to take another very special spread QB to keep it successful Meyer is just trying to evolve like he always has. With that being said, I think he bolts for Notre Dame or the NFL as soon as things stop working out on offense for him.

Can you tap into some of your inner Nostradamus and tell us when he's leaving?

I think that Meyer knows how much we need Scroggins and is less interested is getting him than he is in making us work extra hard ... AND LONG .... on getting him. The longer Meyer can draw this out and cause us to devote more resources to one kid, the better off Florida is.

I think back to something LWS said about not knowing if the staff were onto Scroggins enough to fight to keep him all the way to signing day. Meyer doesn't care if Scroggins commits to UT next week probably...he knows that he's going to have a good season, he's going to showcase some new stuff to make Tebow look more attractive to the NFL - and sell that as "changing his system" to Scroggins, and he's going to stay in Scroggins ear and keep him interested just enough to make UT work overtime to get/keep Scroggins.

In the end, even if we get Scroggins, Meyer could consider it a victory if the extra time Kiffin/Chaney devote to Jesse keeps at least some of their attention out of Florida (Pahokee, Miami, etc.). It helps that Eddie Gran seems to be able to handle south Florida seemingly on his own...but tying up our focus doesn't hurt.

Meyer doesn't need a QB, and especially a QB that really doesn't fit his system, but he sure would love to make life as uncomfortable as possible for that new thorn in his side, Lane Kiffin.

He ran the spread-option at Bowling Green and Utah....he could have run a pro-style at some point, but I'm not aware of it. I think that we will see some pro sets this year...but the spread will still be their bread and butter.

The spread is Meyer's calling card. I can't believe he'd go so low as to tell Scroggins that he'd give it up for him. But then again, we are talking about the same guy who said he'd play Tebow at LB to get another recruit.

How do these recruits not know that Meyer is a liar?

It should be tattooed on his forehead by NCAA rule... as far as I'm concerned.

I assume misleading recruits is not a secondary violation.

He was on pro-style staffs at tOSU and Notre Dame.

Rivals article was uninspiring. Gives us the same info we already have. Jesse wants to feel at home wherever he goes ((I told you guys to get Grandmas biscuit recipe, did anyone listen to me ? :)) the distance us not a huge factor for him, he thought the flight was not a big deal at all. He spoke with Walker, Berry, Bryce and they really gave him the feeling that they wanted him there. He enjoyed speaking face to face with the coaches and talking with them about the offense. Jacques Smith is someone he speaks with too (I love Jacques!).

His only suprise was Neyland. He didn't realize the stadium was going to be that large!

I think we are in good shape. He mentions Chris Leaks offense and that UF runs an O based on their QB. He mentioned that it was a pro style O, oddly he also talks how it was an O that gave Leak the ball from the shotgun formation. What a joke!

What are the odds that Kiffin has this guy and he'll do another Nuke move on Meyer on NSD?

It seems we'd want to have him tell the world he's coming to UT to get others to join, but it would be a lot fun to see Meyer lose his QB on NSD... assuming Meyer is still coaching UF then and hasn't already accepted the ND job.

Kiffin wouldn't want this to be silent. He needs the pub to get other guys in here.

Agreed. If Scroggins is a Vol, it would have already been announced. He will help pull some really good recruits and his name won't be kept silent.

you don't have the run meyer has had with that offense and change things up. at least you don't do that if you are smart.

The voice of reason from the other coast. Meyer didn't change his offense for Leak, he won't do it for anyone else. He will live and die by the spread option. He's just spewing his recruiting BS. If the kid believes it, it's his own fault.

He didn't change his offense for Leak?? What Florida team did you watch?

Leak ran the spread option just like all of his other quarterbacks. Sure, he brought in Tebow to run about half the time, but the QB still ran the spread. There was no semblance of a pro style offense when Leak was there.

Agreed. Leak rarely, if ever, lined up under center with a single or I-formation behind him. He was the passing QB in the spread, and Tebow was the runner. After Leak, Teabags took over all the duties.

Meyer is a POS for knowingly lying to Scroggins about changing the offense. And it isn't even like it is the first time he has flat out lied to get a recruit. I think Scroggins is a good kid from what I can tell, but if he falls for Urban's line here he deserves everything he gets. Point blank....Urban doesn't want him going to another SEC school, and that is what this is all about.

The fact that he is even considering UF is showing a level of naivety that is worrisome.
