I think that Meyer knows how much we need Scroggins and is less interested is getting him than he is in making us work extra hard ... AND LONG .... on getting him. The longer Meyer can draw this out and cause us to devote more resources to one kid, the better off Florida is.
I think back to something LWS said about not knowing if the staff were onto Scroggins enough to fight to keep him all the way to signing day. Meyer doesn't care if Scroggins commits to UT next week probably...he knows that he's going to have a good season, he's going to showcase some new stuff to make Tebow look more attractive to the NFL - and sell that as "changing his system" to Scroggins, and he's going to stay in Scroggins ear and keep him interested just enough to make UT work overtime to get/keep Scroggins.
In the end, even if we get Scroggins, Meyer could consider it a victory if the extra time Kiffin/Chaney devote to Jesse keeps at least some of their attention out of Florida (Pahokee, Miami, etc.). It helps that Eddie Gran seems to be able to handle south Florida seemingly on his own...but tying up our focus doesn't hurt.
Meyer doesn't need a QB, and especially a QB that really doesn't fit his system, but he sure would love to make life as uncomfortable as possible for that new thorn in his side, Lane Kiffin.
