Meyer took a long time to make adjustments in his first year in '05 (Leak's junior year), but it definitely was not the exact spread offense that he ran pre-Leak and post-Leak.

The voice of reason from the other coast. Meyer didn't change his offense for Leak, he won't do it for anyone else. He will live and die by the spread option. He's just spewing his recruiting BS. If the kid believes it, it's his own fault.

Meyer ran their offense a lot different when Leak was the QB. Leak passed a whole lot more than Tebow and ran the option a whole lot less. Not much at all actually. Leak hardly ever tucked the ball and ran, and Tebow does it a lot. It was by no means a pro-style offense though.

I sware if we lose this guy to Florida I will :puke5: then:pukeb:some more:flush::jawdrop:then I will:machgun::gun:Meyer and go :ninja: on his AZZ!

Leak ran the option a lot less because Tebow came in and ran it some.

Here are the 2006 and 2007 stats compared:
2006 2007
166 226 Rushing attempts by QB
398 361 Passing attempts by QB
310 261 Rushing attempts by RB/WR

The only thing that changed was that leak handed if off a little more. He still did it out of the option sets. Tebow ran it more because he was the best RB on the team.

He was on pro-style staffs at tOSU and Notre Dame.

Also, being on a pro-style "staff" and RUNNING a pro-style offense are two different subjects.

There was no such thing as the spread back then unless you consider BYU or Hawaii. However, what Florida runs is a spread option and those really didn't become popular until the last 5 years. So just because someone ran something 10-12 years ago doesn't mean they'd run that offense now. Remember, we're not talking about Phil Fulmer and David Cutcliffe here. Most people don't run the same offense for 16 years.

One of the guys Urban Meyer studied when formulating his version of the spread was Jim Chaney. Purdue was running it. So was Louisville, West Virginia, Paul Johnson...

Scout.com: Scroggins visits both Florida and Tennessee

JB has put up a new article on Scroggins on Scout. It is a FREE READ. Everybody needs to check it out. He sounds like he is all Vol to me...
“I loved it at Tennessee,” Scroggins told InsideTennessee.com late Monday night. “It was very comforting, I loved the family atmosphere in Knoxville.”

“They definitely rolled out the Orange carpet,” Scroggins said. “I hope they were themselves and I felt that they were. They definitely stressed I was their No. 1 target and a key to their future plans. It feels good to be in that place for them.”

“Actually Florida quarterback situation is a lot like the one at Tennessee,” Scroggins said. “They both have two quarterbacks and one of them is a senior at both places.”

Somebody needs to tell him that the UF QB situation is NOTHING like UTs. We will have Ginger next year. UF will have Brantley, Reed, and Burton. Somehow he has forgotten about Reed and Burton...

I love the article, but don't like how he says our QB situations are identical. They have a Freshman coming in who was highly ranked and one already committed for this year!! THINK JESSE!!!

He knows where he is going. Dead tie, my ass. This is a dead tie:

Yeah, he needs to look at the Florida QB depth chart a little closer. There is no comparison. Come on Jessee, were counting on you!

I think Tennessee has an advantage because who wants to follow in Tebow's footsteps? How can you top 2 NC's (maybe 3 after this coming season) by the previous QB? In Tennessee, you can become the guy that put Tennessee back on the map, like Carson Palmer did at USC.

He would not even follow. Brantley will. He will get his first shot at QB there as Redshirt Sophmore or a true Junior. And he will be competing with two other highly recruited QBs. If he loses he would have to transfer. If he believes anything else then he is not smart enough to play QB.

If UF recruits any other QBs in the next 3 years, he'll also have to deal with them...

One thing I want to point out, is that everyone keeps saying that UF and USC will bring in other top QBs in 2011, but don't you all expect Tennessee to do the same? I'm just saying, no QB needs to worry about who the team he is going to commit to may recruit the next year!

I can understand him disregarding Burton but Reed is a CUM type of QB and was more highly recruited. I seriously think someone needs to make sure he knows the deal with Reed. It would make a difference in any logical person's thinking.

There's a big difference in waiting for your Junior year to try out for the starting spot against a stud Sophomore who's already in the system and earning the starting gig your Freshman year and having to defend it in later years.

SIAP but one quote that stuck out to me was about Kiffin

He is very accessible and a lot easier to talk to

Easier than who? Urban Meyer? If so, he pretty much said he prefers UT's coach/recruiting over Florida's which is big... Maybe i'm over analyzing though.

I thought the exact same thing when I read it. It could very easily be a misquote though.
