Kiffin obviously felt, at the time he made the comment (which he did on more than one occasion), that he was likely going to find a better prospect in 2010. If we take him at his word...that means he wants HIS pick, HIS guy under center...not Coach Fulmer's, for the next few years.
So, yes, he was holding out...and yes, Jesse is the the kind of prospect he has been holding out for. That being the case, why would he not make that point known to Jesse? You don't think that would be a good selling point, to know that a coach let a 5* prospect get away, so he could get a prospect like Jesse? If I were in the kids shoes, that would make me feel pretty special and wanted.

Agree with everything you said about what he would tell Jesse. I'm guessing he would even have told him he would turn him into Tennessee's first Heisman winner.

Now, Did CLK believe any of that? Maybe and Maybe not. He might just think this kid is the best possible kid available so he tells him what he has to.

not sure I can put a percent on it. here is what I think. If he becomes a Vol, we will win a fight that we have to make right to signing day. Not sure we are that willing to fight that long for this kid.

I'm glad he said he's making a commitment within a week (at least that's what I gathered from the article)...maybe CLK told him he's held other prospects in a lengthy holding pattern waiting on his decision, and that he's not going to be able to keep those prospects waiting much longer.

Scroggins and Lamaison (09), or Scroggins and Rettig by the end of the month, I'm guessing.

Yep. I can understand why it would be confusing. I've explained this in the past, but will do so again. When I first registered and posted, I posed as a UT fan. I assumed I'd be able to change the name to something that would make it clear that I'm a "bammer" once I was through fooling around with ya'll. You can change your "name" on my homer board as often as you want, so I assumed I'd be able to here. Anyway, I was outed pretty quickly, felt bad about the charade afterwards, apologized for "trolling" on your board and stated that I'd probably visit from time to time. I'm not like a lot of fans who "hate" rivals. I respect other teams and their fans, especially SEC teams. In fact I like to see Bama's rivals do well, except against Bama of course. It makes the rivarly that much better.

Thanks for the kind words. The feeling is mutual.

I'm not asked about the name very often. I'd like to change it, just so folks don't think what the heck is up with that guy. I poked around pretty thoroughly in "User CP" and couldn't seem to find any function for changing it. Anyone know if you can and how it's done?
