Great news coming out of Knoxville today from camp. Sure sounds like he has had a great time here. Until then, can't wait to hear an official commitment... knock on wood.

I know previously it was thought that USC would offer regardless of how Scroggins performed at their camp. Do you think they will still do this even if he can't compete? That would look pretty bad since they said they would give an offer to the best QB at camp.

If they think they have a shot to land him, they'll offer. If they get the impression that he's Vol-bound and he doesn't compete at Rising Stars, they may not even offer.

For those who havent seen what the rock looks like

WVLT) -- Tennessee wants Jesse Scroggins in the worst way.
Scroggins counts the Vols among his best college options.
The quarterback prospect told the Knoxville News-Sentinel that he is "loving" his trip to Knoxville this weekend, saying the Vols may have moved into the lead on his list of college choices.
The 6-foot-3 signal-caller from California is rated as one of the best QB prospects in the 2010 recruiting class. He came to the UT campus for the Vols' football camp.
Scroggins told the News-Sentinel that he is "wide open" about his college decision, but that he's hoping to commit somewhere next week, after he returns from the football camp circuit.
Scroggins also camped at Florida

Sounds good to me!

I doubt it. It sounds like he reaggravated his his pointer here, and theres probably no way he's ready to go in a couple days unless he's on some painkillers while he's there.

Well I wondered why he would even go to the USC camp if he was injured because they are going to offer the best out of the 6 QBs. I am curious how this visit goes because if he doesn't compete and gets an offer that would mean that he already had it like the last article I read stated.

I dont see what the point would of him "lieing" about not having a SC offer.....or why SC would want him to keep it on the DL. Like has been stated, if he goes to SC, he most definitely would redshirt his freshman year, then sit behind Barkley for a year, 2 if he doesnt go to the League after his Jr year. Also gotta consider that in that time, SC will almost surely sign 1 or 2 5-star all world type guys he is going to have to compete with to see the field. I know the kid doesnt mind competing, but if his goal is getting to the NFL.....the path of least resistance and most opportunity is right down I-75 in Knoxville. I feel good about this kid.

Agreed.. I hope your right

I know ot NEVER count out USC and Coach Carroll when it comes to recruiting.....but I get the sense in his interviews that Scroggins and his family have their heads on straight. They know where his best chances at future success both on and off the field are at. If we get Jesse, I think that domino (along with probably signing Rettig) causes a LOT of other offensive recruits to pull the trigger on us. If we start out the season good, win the games we are supposed to, and show a big improvement from last year on Offense.....we will have a LOT of highly rated guys coming to us.

Yeah.. plus he kinda took a shot at USC today saying they got in the race way to late..

that means alot too..

We get Scroggins.. I expect a ton of offensive playmakers to jump on board

seems like his coach may have let it out of the bag, when it wasn't supposed to be public. by making it public, it could discourage other guys who would then think the competition was already decided before it even got started.
