That was an awesome piece by Feldman. Scroggins was destined to be a qb. Kid would walk wheel barrow style for a mile or so. Dad was inspired by National Geo! He thought we got too weak as we started walking upright. Awesome stuff

I'll ask him what he thinks about Scroggins thought processes on schools. See what he picked up. We are friends on FB

why are people convinced we would take a commitment from him if he were ready to commit? I'm not convinced we are at that point to take commitment from any quarterback yet. IMO, staff is still evaluating quarterbacks. That is exactly what they were doing yesterday and will continue to do that.

I jsut don't think they are ready to "commit" that 2010 kid yet... everyone talks like we are??

Everyone has there favorite QB prospect and Scroggins just happens to be mine. So, to answer your question they(people who like him) are speculating that he is the best candidate for the QB job. IMO. The fact is, unless you're on the staff no one really knows.

I think that everyone is ready to see someone on the list so that way the other offensive players we are recruiting can start a dialect with their future QB. I thought myself that July/August would be the time frame where we would see the trigger pulled, but now after a lackluster QB camp that maybe postponed until later. We do have the individual camps coming up, and maybe there will be someone that shows them something there but that's still to be determined. I am now thinking that this search may go into late fall due to this class not being that deep and the coaches not wanting to waste a commit if they aren't 110% sure on who they want.

This just doesn't make a lot of sense to me, Larry. I would think if the coaches have seen enough to offer him, then they would accept a commitment the second that Scroggins gives it.

Yeah,

If we have offered a kid then we are obliged to take their commitment at anytime. Not sure what the rules are, but that makes sense to me. We like the kid enough, we offer, he commits at anytime, we take him. That simple.

Simply not true. There are deals that are worked behind the scenes that most don't see involving prospects and their recruitment, and there isn't anything that says we have to take their commitment at anytime.

It's not always that simple, but with Scroggins you take a commitment when he gives it. Too many other BIG schools are going after him.

So, we should just take his commitment because he is ready to give it?? The coaches let prospects know when they are ready to take a commitment, not the other way around. QB is a need, but it's something that you base your future on so you had better be sure. We could already have a QB commit ready to come on board, but the coaches maybe making sure they have covered their bases before going public.

What else would they have to do that would prevent them from taking a commitment from a guy that is the #1 QB left on their board?

You can't pass on Scroggins' committment. He has done too much to prove he can play at this level....

Please tell me when he has started a game for UT?? He hasn't proven anything other than he has performed well in some camps. What if he bombs at our camp like the other QB's did?? Will everyone be screaming then?? He hasn't proved anything yet, and he hasn't showed up yet either.

You sure he's #1 on their board?? I haven't seen that information posted anywhere. :)

I definitely seen it somewhere. I wanna say it was LWS who said it, but don't hold me to that. I'll try to find it, but whoever said it said something about Scroggins may have passed Heaps to be #1 on the QB board. With Heaps gone, there's no question in my mind...

Going by that logic, no QB ever prove themselves. He has recieved an offer to play QB from the last 3 national champions. If he gets the USC offer, he will have an offer from 6 of the last 7 national champions (counting the USC/LSU split). That's about the most impressive offer list a QB can recieve especially when you add in Tennessee's offer and the offer from the QB coaching master, Sarkisian...

That is your opinion of course, but years of experience on our coaching staff in evaluating talent wins here my friend. :)

No one said they couldn't evaluate talent. The simple fact that they can is what convinces me that Scroggins is at the top of their board just as he is at the top of everyone else's. No way you turn a commitment from a guy like Scroggins down. He was the first guy they offered when they figured out they were going to miss out on Heaps. You will never convince me that if Scroggins committed right now, the coaches would tell him no. It just would never happen.

And add in the fact that he is the only QB most of those schools are going after at this point.

I was pretty confident about Heaps in the beginning but that went downhill in a hurry.

It seems like we've got a really got shot at Scroggins though, and I like him just as much (no homo), so I'm good either way.
