Quote:
On Thursday, Scroggins talked with Florida coach Urban Meyer and the Gators have offered as well.

"I'm hyped on Florida for sure," Scroggins said. "They win national championships there and coach Meyer does a great job with the quarterback position. They said they're changing the offense after Tebow graduates to a more drop back style offense and they brought in Scott Loeffler to be the OC there and that's the kind of offense he has always run so I know it will be a good fit for me.

"My coach and I plan to take an unofficial visit out there in the summer and we're just working out the dates. I've only been to Washington so far and liked it there a lot but I want to check out a few more schools in the summer because I plan to try and make a commitment before the school year starts up."

Won't happen. It's either west coast or UT for Scroggins. Florida got in too late, has a much less attractive depth chart, and Scroggins has family in Tennessee and has visited frequently.

This will come down to a UT USC battle. What concerns me is that there are three people involved and they all want to play together so you have to recruit that much harder to get all on the same page. And with USC offering, well that's hard for any CA prospect to turn down, but we are going to have to hope on 3 turning them down. That is, unless USC offers only Scroggins which would help us out immensely.

Maybe Scroggins should ask Jevan Snead about Meyer's truthfulness to QBs about his system.

I have heard a lot about Florida changing to more of a drop back offense and I am left wondering if it's true or it's just something they are telling recruits. Brantley certainly fits that offense better, but their entire personnel is geared to run the spread.

More like a Washington/Tennessee battle, USC's depth chart is insane so he will be fighting for backup duty to Matt Barkley...He wants to go somewhere he can step in, learn the system and play....That won't happen at USC for him, He's better off at UT

It will not be a Washington /Tennessee battle.

Maybe he should. Sincerity about the plans to change the scheme would be an important part of Scroggins due diligence.

You know some changes are coming when you're losing a quarterback who is also the best 240 lb. shortage back in the country.

I think Scroggins should look at Utah's offense in 2004 and Loeffler's track record as well. Meyer brought Loeffler in knowing that the offense would have to change when Tebow left.

fwiw - Meyer did not mislead Snead about the system, he misled him about his interest in Tebow. Not a proud moment in Gator history.

I think I knew what you meant when you used Tebow instead of Snead.

Just curious, does misled mean blatantly lied through his teeth?

Why?

Scroggins has better running ability than Brantley.

Brantley would be an amazing fit for YOUR offense. He's an elite passer and tall enough to see all the passing lanes.

You'll get to see some of that in Gainesville.

I sure hope your right and Heaps goes to UT or UW and not BYU cuz Scroggins admits that he came really close to committing to the Huskies on his visit there...

My hope is that Heaps goes to UW. My feeling is that it's BYU.

I can't see not being able to sell Scroggins and co. on UT vs. UW. UT vs. USC is a taller task.

What I was saying is that Brantley fits the drop back passing offense I referred to better than the spread.

Don't be so sure. Look at the success UT is having in DL recruiting. That is largely due to Orgeron and the track record he has developing stars at those positions.

Florida has an elite QB coach in Loeffler. That's will be an important factor. Whether it's enough to overcome the distance issue is hard to say. It's a long way.

One would think USC usually has the upper hand in a case like this, only negative is that the depth chart is pretty full.

I think I indicated that it was not a proud moment. I would hope that you would take that as a sign of acknowledgement that what was done wasn't right.
What's your point in pressing it further?

Anyway, this development is probably a bit of a blow to those who wanted swift resolution to the QB issue. Getting this behind you will certainly help with recruiting some of the other offensive pieces of the puzzle.

the point was that misled is a media word used for liberals and democrats, lied is generally applied to the nasty conservatives and republicans. Just making the point that your kinder word doesn't change that UM isn't the saint many UF wonks portray him to be.
