Florida offered Lakewood, Calif., quarterback Jesse Scroggins, one of the hottest prospects in the country, and his coach, Thadd MacNeal, said the Gators will receive an unofficial visit this summer.
Scroggins recently picked up an offer from Florida.
"They're definitely one of the top," MacNeal said of Florida. "They're going to go to the end for sure.

The Florida news kinda worries me. I will trust our staff but if Florida sees more of him and really wants him, they will be a major player.

This whole deal is complicated by the fact that you have 3 teammates that want to play together at the next level. We have offered all 3 of them, but I don't know which schools have done the same. Also with Florida, Jesse has family here and that's a big draw in addition to a very favorable QB situation, the chance to be a part of something big, building a dynasty type team. And I think we can out recruit Florida any day of the week. They are lazy recruiters because the prospects generally come to them.

Maybe he should. Sincerity about the plans to change the scheme would be an important part of Scroggins due diligence.

You know some changes are coming when you're losing a quarterback who is also the best 240 lb. shortage back in the country.

I think Scroggins should look at Utah's offense in 2004 and Loeffler's track record as well. Meyer brought Loeffler in knowing that the offense would have to change when Tebow left.

fwiw - Meyer did not mislead Snead about the system, he misled him about his interest in Tebow. Not a proud moment in Gator history.

If Scroggins picks UF and Meyer is lying about this (wouldn't be the first time, mind you) he deserves exactly what he gets there. I Like Scroggins and think he is a good kid from what I can tell, but he is rolling the dice believing what Meyer tells him about the QB situation and offensive changes.

Gator QB coach Scott Loeffler coached NFL quarterbacks Tom Brady, Brian Griese and Chad Henne in college.

Is that a positive that Scroggins should look at ? Similar to what Orgeron has done with DL?

That was in a pro style offense at another school. He now is a QB coach in a spread offense. So no, you can't compare the two.

You mean while had a hand in Brady riding the pine? The other two, freakin' please.

Exactly. Orgeron answers to an NFL DC. Loeffler answers to the NFL's nightmare of an offense. He helps Tebow's mechanics, but the questions about the spread will still be there.

What is your objection to Henne and Griese?

Henne is the heir apparent to the starting job in Miami with a $20M contract. Are your criteria only guys who start day 1 as rookies in the NFL. Not many schools can claim a consistent track record of those. And Griese made it to the league and started for a bunch of years. He got rich too.

What are saying that you have to sell these kids....a guarantee that they will make the Pro Bowl?

I'm not claiming anything. I'm making fun of your absurd claim. Henne and Griese both underachived massively at UM while Brady rode the pine. Fantastic resume.

"Hey Jevan, don't worry about Tim Tebow he is playing Linebacker." -CUM

"Last year, those guys from Tennessee just quit in the second half"

Brandon James, commenting on UF's 59-20 beating of Tennessee in 2007.

"I fired the assistant" -Lane Kiffin, commenting on an assistant he didn't fire

"I was sending the coach messages on Nu'keese's phone and the coach thought it was Nu'keese"

"You know how things go in Pahokee...."

"I'm going to turn the University of Florida in right in front of you"

"If you go to South Carolina, you're going to spend the rest of your life pumping gas"

"We've got our foot on our opponents throats and we're not going to let up" - Urban Meyer

You like quotes, I like them to.

The fact is, he was the guy coaching them and they made it to the NFL. Brady is great, Griese was competent and had a long career and Henne will get his shot.

That's a good track record of getting guys to the league and the Gators will be pitching it to Scroggins. If you think that Kiffiin is going to be making a counter argument that these guys were underachievers in college, god bless you.

Kiffin will lobby against the spread for sure.

UF will showcase the depth chart at OL for a QB to play behind. UT doesn't have a ready answer to that today.

you assume recruits are too stupid to link cause with effect.

Exactly which one of these wasn't said at a booster meeting or in the context of a joke? All of these are a far cry from flat out lying to a recruit, making it as you said "not a proud moment in gator history". Meyer's lie to a recruit is more relevant anyway in this discussion, especially more so than the merits of a USCjr education.

...of which, btw, he denied ever making that last quote.

Can someone ban this guy already? He's one of the biggest douchebags in VN history - and he's not even the most idiotic guy to post here considering Teddyhead and others posted here which is hard to do.

Agree. At the very beginning I thought he was going to be a nice, objective rival fan but lately his homerism has shown through and shows why everyone thinks Florida fans are some of the worst fans ever.
