09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

From what he said in the article it would appear visiting Oregon St. is bascially a courtesy thing for him because they recruited him in highschool and never lost contact with him...

I think if he leaves the West coast...which appears likely...then he's all Vol...

I feel really good about our chances after reading that article

Miami Southridge High School DB Andrew Johnson says he wasn't recruited by coach Randy Shannon and his staff.

But Johnson says that's changed under new coach Al Golden.

"Because of my height (5-10) Shannon didn't recruit me, but the new coaching staff, they said I fit their standards," Johnson said. "I'm real excited about that. I always wanted to play for Miami, wanted to be in the orange and green."

Johnson says he and teammate Gerod Holliman, who lists a UM offer, are set on attending the same college.

"For sure we'll be together," Johnson said. "Me and Gerrod, we always mention the Hurricanes. We'd play around in practice throwing up the U."

Johnson says he found out Miami would start recruiting him before Christmas break when he spoke with coach Micheal Barrow.

Could this effect Moore?

i think if our best corner leaves early...it might bring moore..but i think he is the least likely

i say oregon st

"I will not decide until after the trip to Miami and I may not announce until signing day gets closer," Moore said.

"I'm sure I'll have a pretty good idea after my Miami visit, but right now all four are equal. There is no pecking order."

"What I am looking for is where I will be living - the atmosphere and the surroundings, and how well I relate to the coaches on the staff, particularly my position coach and defensive coordinator. I have to feel comfortable with the DC and the DB coach because that is who I will have the most interaction with."

i really dont see the point of wilcox leaving...its pretty much a lateral move..and he would get more credit if he is part of the staff that brought back the vols

Do you think he would leave because it is easier to recruit and thus win at Texas or he thinks they are better than us like Felix the Cat (lame kitten)? interested to know.:hi:

well it is easier to recruit in texas...they choose who they want, they could get stud after stud

at the same time..those same players lost to iowa st and baylor..

i think wilcox would look like a genious at both schools if his defense plays great..i would only understand if he took a head coaching job

It is an easier job to be successful in because of the in state talent and playing in an easier conference. Texas has also had more DCs move on to HC jobs. You have to believe they would offer him more money than UT is currently paying him. And Austin is one of the best cities to live in. For most of these coaches this is a profession, they don't have the emotion vested in the programs that the fans do.

Texas has only had more DC move on to HC jobs because we had a very highly regarded DC(by everybody else but us) for over a decade who seemed and still seems to be content with remaining a DC. Texasses DCs have made it abundantly clear that they are always looking to move up to HC. And Austin Texas is not freakin Shang-rila.

I think most Vol fans would agree as do I but that is only an opinion. Again I'm a fan and wouldn't jump ship for anything but it is a job for most of these guys. They are looking for the best opportunity to get ahead.

Austin & the Hill Country is more than that to Texans. It's heaven.

However, Wilcox grew up on the West Coast & played at Oregon, so maybe Austin is no big deal to him.

If he leaves it is because he doesn't have balls...

period.

If he leaves it will be because he doesn't want to do the work, just like Lane. If Kiffin knew he could win championships at TN this season and/or next season he would have stayed. He wanted the easier job. (dream job)

If Wilcox doesn't want to work look for him to move to the other UT.

TBH. I would take the job in austin. one of the few places comparable to living in knoxvegas. Great pay, easy recruiting, fun city, easy but somehow respectable conference.... why not?

I agree with your assessment, Miami. Wilcox going to Texas makes no sense to me, but it sure sounds like it may happen. If it does, I think it hurts us with both Moore and Lanier unless Dooley names a good replacement very quickly.

As it now stands, I think we are in good shape with both Moore and Lanier and will take whichever one commits first, but Wilcox is a wildcard in the outcome on both.
