09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

I'd bet anything that Moore is playing safety on opening day, whether Janzen returns or not.

Everybody is hollering CB but it doesn't make sense to have Janzen at S when we could have another 205 pound guy roaming the middle and then line up 180-185lb Janzen at CB. I think it would be a lot better for our secondary. I also think Moore is better at FS than CB.

Why?

Why FS over CB?

I like his range at FS. Having a dude that can run and jump like that at FS is a lot harder to avoid than us having him at CB. He makes you be a lot more careful with the ball. His leaping ability paired with his closing speed would really make QBs that like to put air under the ball pay.

I agree. I think Moore and Brewer at S and Janzen(if he's back) and either Lanier or one of the others at CB sounds good to me.

Don't understand all the love for Lanier. The way I see it Gordon should have the edge on him.

I like Gordon, but unless he progresses, I fully expect Lanier to compete for the starting spot at CB.

Gordon is behind Teague. Also Gordon is not the next big thing at CB. I think Coleman is going to pass him. Lanier will pass him too. His size and physicality is going to be good for our secondary. One guy that saw him play said I will be pleasantly surprised with what I see when he suits up for us. Said he'll be a force. Also Tino Thomas will pass Gordon after a year of coaching. He's a very good athlete at the CB spot. He just needs coaching.

I think ya'll will be pissed when you see the amount of playing time Gordon and Evans will see. I'm not saying i'm huge fans of them, but they'll be better than Lanier, and the freshmen. I'm thinking that since they've played significant time against the best competition then they should have the edge.
