SEC votes unanimously to allow Texas and OU in

I am in my 80th year. I have lived through the entire golden era of Sooner Football ( although the '90's were tough to take ). I am a season ticket holder in Norman. Friends and I rented a houseboat for the game in Knoxville. Of course we won't be as dominant in the SEC as we have been in the...

When will OK and Texas officially join the SEC?

It is being reported out in Texas that the remaining dollars ESPN owes on the LHN will be used to buy out the 2 school's GOR obligation. Interestingly enough the amount owed on the LHN is about the amount owed to the Big 12...$160M.

    Oklahoma

Ya know, I came on this board back during our home/home and have had numerous quality discussions with Vol fans. I came back recently because of Heupel's hiring. I am sorry if my comments are offensive but if the subject is Josh, or Mike Leach, or the "air raid" I can only draw on my OU...

We shall see but your post begs the question...what does a Vol fan know about the playoffs? Seriously, this is the best overall team OU has had since 2008. Whether we finally get over the hump and win at least one playoff game is certainly a big question mark but I like our chances.

Mike Leach reflects on recruiting Josh Heupel

Anyone who has watched OU since L.R. came on the scene knows that what the Sooners run is not a true "air raid." In fact, noone runs a true "air raid" these days. The offense has morphed over time into numerous iterations depending on the team and the personnel. Even at OU it is different each...

What makes this OU squad different is the D. Now in the 3rd year of the Grinch rebuild and after 3 stellar D recruiting years, the Sooner D is absolutely legit. Yes, we shall see.

Mike Leach reflects on recruiting Josh Heupel

It was the Houston Gamblers that really showcased the run and shoot.

    Oklahoma

OU has probably benefitted more from this year's transfer portal than any other program. Not only did 3 Vol players transfer in but Arkansas' top WR and a young Penn State QB from LV Bishop Gorman. Having said that, the Sooners were ranked in the top 4 going into 2021 before these transfers...

Mike Leach reflects on recruiting Josh Heupel

The one thing Briles did that was not only innovative but made it even harder for D's to defend was to put his wideouts well beyond the hashmarks almost to the sideline.

Mike Leach reflects on recruiting Josh Heupel

Stoops hired Leach at a time when the Big 12 was a smashmouth run oriented league. He picked Leach because Stoops said at his time at Florida, the UK offense was the most difficult to defend he had ever faced. In those early days of the spread there were huge splits in the O-line which added to...

    Transfer Portal Nationwide Breakdown

In his post NSD pressor Riley said that OU had a prior relationship with both Lawrence and Morris because we offered both and recruited them heavily coming out of HS. Gray was a total surprise who contacted OU first.

    Heupel's Playing Career

That O tree started with Hal Mumme. Stoops struggled defending Kentucky while at Florida; hence, Leach brought to OU in 1999 and Leach found Josh at Snow JC.

Heupel really did get scapegoated at Oklahoma

There is definitely context here...when Stoops came to OU from Florida he said the most difficult O he had to defend in the SEC was Kentucky. He hired Mumme disciple, Mike Leach to run our O and because we didn't have a spread QB on the roster he found Josh at Snow J.C. The next year we won the...

    Sam Bradford’s statement on Heupel

Josh was not Bradford's OC. Kevin Wilson was the OU OC during Bradford's Sooner career. Heupel was the QB coach. Bradford was a 3 star out of an OKC suburb and won the job to start the 2007 season. In 2008 he played behind one of OU's greatest O-lines anchored by now all-pro Trent Williams...

    Discuss Heupel's Offense

Heupel came to OU from Snow JC to run Mike Leach's true spread O which was a pass first scheme...wide line splits, 5 wides, no QB designed runs, deep shots, hurry up. Remember, his dad is a coach and JH is very cerebral. As OU Co-OC with Jay Norvell, he adapted his schemes to suit the talent.
