My most memorable games aren't actually about the football.
2006 against Air Force watching Inky Johnson lay on the turf for an uncomfortable eternity and
2010 against Oregon - lightning delay where we all huddled in a mass with nowhere to go
As a data scientist, this makes me tingle in places we don't talk about at parties. I love it.
One big question for me: did you remove any players that have gone down with season-ending injuries and recompute?
Hurd, Tuttle, McKinsie, JRM, etc are on the roster... but they shouldn't be...
There's a difference between just covering it and excelling at it. How many games did special teams turn because of their Excellence last year? It is certainly a risk with upside and downside. Last night you saw the latter.
0 sacks... On about 3 opportunities. When they run it 80% of the time, sacks aren't possible.
Against a small quick deceptive rushing attack, the D line made great adjustments. App St didn't score after we were down 13-3
The point is that we WOULD throw more if Dobbs were more accurate. He runs this offense well, but this offense is mostly just handing it off. I think Butch would like to throw it down the field a little more to soften up the D for the CMG (stupid name, btw).
Dobbs is awesome in so many...
Being the best QB is about:
(in order)
1. Getting the team into the right play
2. Throwing
3. Running
He's the best at #3, but if he sucks at #1 & #2 (I don't think he sucks), then he's a bad QB.
He has limited arm talent which really impacts our offense. We can't throw it down...
We should all take note of this Iowa season. Getting crushed in a bowl game does not mean the team will be bad the following year.
Let's just keep this in mind if we were to (God forbid) lose our bowl game.
