Pickens was better than Gault IMO. Pickens was at 1 time a 2 way player. Gault was a tremendous athlete and one of the fastest players Tennessee has ever had, but Pickens was the football player.

Chadwell We are going to be in a rebuild mode, we need someone that has the previous experience of building a team. We are not in a situation for someone to learn on the job, because of how far we got set back by the previous coordinator we hired that had no head coaching experience.

I don't get the feeling that Hart is the kind of guy who wants to hire a coordinator as HC, especially as his first choice. I think he's a guy that wants to get a big time established coach.

Not college, but the Pittsburgh Steelers have never retired a single number and have had many hall of fame players and I have never heard the fans complain about not having any jerseys retired, FWIW.
