Hart has failed (again)

Don't diminish your stellar post record with this nonsense.

Clay is so right. Let's fire a coach before a tournament game so we can hire a guy currently on a show cause.

That's just stupid.

Remember the last time we had an AD that was ready to fire the coach before a tournament game?

This. The victim syndrome that we have attributed to Bruce Pearl is unfathomable.

He is going to march down to the Plains today and fill them with the same line of BS (destination job, AU gave me a chance, I love AU, this is my home) that he fed us starting 9 years ago.

He is a salesman, and a really good one. If anyone really believed he was as pro-Tennessee as he portrayed, then you bought his pitch, hook, line, & sinker.

Bruce Pearl is looking out for Bruce Pearl, and he now has a new fanbase to fleece. I wish he had never left, but he is solely to blame for that. He isn't a victim of anything but himself.

Truth bomb.

Why do you always try to act so smart when you post? And I didn't even mention Bruce Pearl cause he's out of the picture. I was just trying to get my point across to some of the fans who think next year will be good when really it won't be.

You also said we wouldn't make the tourney and look where we are

You also said Slive wouldn't let CBP back into SEC.

You also said CBP wouldn't be coaching in the SEC next season.

You also said Slive would make it hard on, come down on and made it clear no SEC school should attempt to hire CBP.

I think reality sank in when I saw Tony Jones get off the plane

Now that man knows what he is talking about!

I was at a luncheon today when it was announced by the speaker that Bruce had been hired by Auburn. A Michigan graduate asked about the importance of this and one doctor commented that it was serious enough to make him reevaluate his donation to the university every year.

Hart will be met with a lot of cold shoulders next year when he comes calling for donations.

Lets get away from Pearl and get behind these boys in Dayton, lord knows they need our support and our fan base to be on the same page...That being said GBO!

I think so, too. The last time I checked, UT has a game Wednesday night in the big dance, and even if they're not going in as a much higher seed, they're still in the fray and I'm behind 'em. What's Hart supposed to to? Pull another Hammy and fire our HC in the heat of battle? Of course not! Bruce Pearl could've waited for the NCAAT to at least get moving along before agreeing to coach at auburn; to see what might occur with our bunch, but he made his choice and he did it at a time that our AD was powerless to make any sort of an offer, short of firing CCM with our team in the tournament. There are an awful lot of orange panties in wads over an offered and signed contract no one in Knoxville could have prevented. Get over it.:rtfm::rtfm:

First, he allowed Bruce to go to a rival. Second, he failed, as with the Gruden rumors, to put the kibosh on the possibility of Bruce coming back home this year.
.

Look, Bruce chose to act on the Auburn job. He could have waited to see what else emerged, but he made his decision. That is not Hart's fault.

The last time an AD meddled into coaching futures before the NCAA tournament, our team shamed off the national picture for 3 years.

I don't know what the next move is besides seeing how this NCAA tournament plays out. But make no mistake, Bruce took himself off of any Tennessee speculation by moving to All Barn before the season was over.

You said we wouldn't make it this year, clearly your predictions aren't worth paying attention to.

And my prediction was pretty dang close to being right. Barely squeezing into the tournament with one of the most talented rosters he's going to have in a long time. Most realistic Vol fans believe next year will be a struggle and it'll be a big test for Martin to see if he can coach up this incoming class which I highly doubt it. If you can't see that we'll struggle next year and not make the NCAA tournament, then I feel sorry for you.

I'm not looking to stir the Pearl pot anymore than it has already been stirred, but I think you're spot on. The irony of all this is those that wanted Pearl back crowed about what a great salesman he is without ever realizing they bought what he was selling, himself.

I'm not looking to take away from what he did at UT, and he did great things, but like you state, he did this to himself. No one held a gun to his head and forced him to lie to the NCAA. That was his choice.

This just shows this prevalent need among our fanbase to find a scapegoat, a person to blame for everything that's wrong, and if they'll just go away things will be alright again.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. We can’t just keep scapegoating people hoping to find the quick fix – there isn’t going to BE a quick fix. Yes, it was time for Fulmer, Hamilton, Dooley all to go when they went (and maybe arguably earlier than when they went). But all three of these had a hand in what ailed UT – they weren’t the sole cause. It has taken us a long time to sink to this point, and when there may finally be some reason for optimism (Hart secured $18 million for the AD to help replenish some of our coffers and we just had a stellar football recruiting class) it just seems crazy to me to blame the folks at the top.

Cuonzo was in real danger earlier this year, but his team rallied and finished strong, getting an NCAA tourney bid we all thought had been lost weeks ago. Now, it’s absolutely completely legitimate to question Cuonzo Martin’s ability to get the program where we all know it can be – I think the inconsistency of our play when weighed against the talent of our team raises deserved questions about coaching. But all of that taken into account, his team still rallied to finish the season and he really does deserve the chance to show us whether it was a real turning point or whether it was simply a flash in the pan.

Martin may very well not be the guy for the job; but do we really know that at this very moment? We’re all guessing when all he did was get to the tournament, which every Vol fan said was a necessity for him to keep his job. He did it. People are nervous that he lucked into it, but we can’t really say whether that’s the case. What if his team smokes Iowa, then UMass, then beats Duke to make it to the Sweet Sixteen? Maybe that’s not likely (I don’t think it is) but it certainly wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility.

What is it you wanted Dave Hart to do? I mean really?
