'15 LB FL Cecil Cherry (former Vol commit)

Next Fall will mark a new opportunity for Frostproof, Florida linebacker and Tennessee commitment Cecil Cherry. The soon to be senior plans on being a big-time leader.

"I just have to show the guys how to do the right things," Cherry said. "I want to lead vocally and by example like being on time and doing what I'm supposed to be doing. I want to be at the first of the line in drills and show the other guys."

Cherry loves contact. When you bring up the thought of lighting an opponent up, his demeanor and voice changes. He gets excited and he isn't shy to tell you about his passion.

"I love to hit," Cherry said. "I think about somethings that go on in life and football allows me to take my frustrations out in a good way. I love that feeling when I get a big hit on someone. There is nothing like it. When you hit that running back or receiver, it makes them not want to come back through that hole

Love this! Can't teach that attitude. Can't wait to watch this young man play in Orange on Saturdays.

Bump for Mr. Cherry. He almost made it to the second page. Mr. Cherry is not to be demoted to 2nd page status. EVER. Also, he's staying on Preston Williams so he deserves respect. He's been a very good recruiter for us so far.

I viewed Kevin Simon kindof like Ben Martin.

Those guys left all they had on the field. If they could have avoided the injury bug, they both would have had a great chance at AA.

Al Wilson needs to sit down and mentor this kid. He is a natural leader. He and butcher are becoming my favorite guys in this class.

Kid would be absolutely terrifying if Big Al got his hands on him. I don't think I have been this excited over a LB recruit since Big Al actually...

I love AW as much as anyone, but he wasn't a marquee recruit. Came to UT as a RB/Safety/Athlete.

Pretty highly recruited actually. So what's your point exactly? AW was always gonna be a LB imo. And that was what I was saying...that I hadn't been this excited about a LB since AW. ¿Comprende?

Wilson was a consensus HS All-American who was very highly recruited.

"I came in (to UT) as a strong safety, but I didn't cover well," he explained. "I was more into tackling than I was into covering a wide receiver. Coach (John) Chavis told me one day at practice to go to the linebackers meeting, that they were going to try me in the 'nickel' package. I never went back to another defensive backs meeting."

What about Dillon Bates? He is going to be good.

He has the ability and the pedigree, to be very very good. Crossing routes, quick slants and seem patterns will be difficult with him on the lineup.

Middle drop zone coverage, is where he will make his mark.

He is tough and will tackle anyone, I just don't want him to have to tackle big backs consistently in the hole. He can cover sideline to sideline well.

A good DC puts players in position to make plays, according to their strengths.
