IRS admits to targeting Conservative groups

LG, in your legal expertise, what is the most common reaction of a jury when a plaintiff or defendant takes the fifth while on the stand and under oath?

Is the reaction positive, negative, or neutral?

You sure?

I find it hypocritical that she takes the 5th, which is a Constitutional right, and then she so easily disregards the Constitution to further the cause of the Democratic Socialists in Washington

Don't you agree LG?

Its kind of like an officer who abuses their power and violates the Constitutional Rights of others, then stands behind that Constitution expecting it to protect them

It virtually never happens in trial because the defending party is always able to have it excluded from the jury precisely on grounds applicable here: it is irrelevant and people tend to read way, way, WAY, too much into it.

Issa & Co. know she is taking the 5th. She was called purely as a publicity stunt by Issa.

Can't say as I blame him. He's used to calls from the media, and being on Fox. But all of these "scandals" are fading and he's missing the attention.

So why not answer the questions?

Your troll is strong today.

Damnation, my retaliatory troll was censored. Then my observation that it was censored was censored.

It's like Putin got a hold of the controls up in here and I'm ***** Riot!!

I find it hypocritical that the GOP, which proclaims itself the party of smaller government and less government waste, is spending obscene amounts of money trying to score irrelevant and cheap political points with the base.

I agree that both parties are a waste of fine quality Oxygen

I don't need anyone in Washington making decisions for me and you don't either

When will you admit they are both equally worthless and lets move on from this corrupt two party system?

My point still stands.

Thanks.

Obama labeled the IRS actions as outrageous and vowed to get to the bottom of it. The committee is justified.

I understand why they don't want to give her immunity since she is one of the big fish but at this point I'd rather here her testimony and risk not being able to prosecute her for misdeeds.

The jury (and in Lerner's case the public ar large) read too much into pleading the fifth. That's reasonable. So, why would the democrats, their advisors and consultants allow Lerner to do so if she (and others) are completely innocent?

The rest of your post is typical misdirection and master baiting the troll hook.

these house committee investigations cost less than one of Barry and Michelle's vacations, so get off your high horse counselor.

At this point, I'm not concerned whether Lerner gets prosecuted, or anyone else for that matter.

But, LG's thoughts to the contrary, this is a huge issue that absolutely has to be dealt with. The IRS is clearly in need of serious reform, if not complete overhaul. The fact that those responsible for taking our money on behalf of our government can be so easily used as a blunt object against the opponents of those in power is terrifying.

Correct. It is in EVERYONE'S interest to find out what happened here and how it went down.

I maintain the best solution to this problem is to eliminate the exemption, in its entirety. An organization, be it political or social, left or right, east or west, up or down, should pay taxes and report donations just like every other organization or institution.

Would that stop the IRS from being used as a political weapon?

Any of your legal buddies ever talk about how long it takes an IRS audit and the trouble it can bring?

It would end abuse of this exemption, both by the political organizations that try to escape scrutiny by abusing it, and by the IRS. I cannot understand why anyone would be opposed to getting rid of the exemption.

Do you oppose getting rid of the exemption? If so, why.
