IRS admits to targeting Conservative groups

Nothing to see here, all a fabrication of the media.

Obama: There Was No IRS Scandal - It Was Just Made Up By the Media - Fox Nation

LG must be wetting his pants with joy and adoration. His two favorite people having aural sex on TV.

The only people who actually think that the president or his campaign told IRS people to go after conservatives trying to qualify for tax exempt status would never vote for a Democrat, ever, anyway.

Everyone else realizes that all this issue has done is remind us all what a crock tax exempt status is for political organizations.

You could've just said what a crock the IRS is.

I see you missed the point that the POTUS is misrepresenting what happened here.

“If on the other hand, you’ve got an office in Cincinnati, an IRS office, that I think for bureaucratic reasons, is trying to sreamline a difficult law to begin with, and interpret whether a non-profit is a political organization, deserves a tax exempt agenc, ant they’ve got a list. Suddenly, everyone’s outraged… And, I’ll point out that there are some so-called progressives and perceived to be liberal commentators during that week that were just outraged at the possibility that these folks had in some way been discriminated against. And, that is what gets news.”

It was demonstrably more than the Cincy office, it was shown to be more than bureaucratic streamlining and the POTUS himself said he was among the outraged but now he's minimizing it and claiming it was only commentators that were outraged.

The guy is shameless.

He's being dismissive of any continuing effort to make something of it. Fact is that it was blown way out of proportion. He's correctly pointing that out.

Well, Lerner takes the Fifth yet again. And followed by a tirade from Rep Cummings from Maryland as the session closed.

Taking the Fifth is never a bad choice. But it's basically pointing to complicity and tacit guilt in this case.

Considering the hearing is an expensive drama for show, taking the 5th will not look good to the audience who is watching the show. "I take the fifth", = "I am guilty". Unless it is an Irish man saying, "I take the fifth". That means something entirely different.

I'm Irish and I am offended.

Okay, no I'm not, truth hurts.

The taxpayers paid her salary. She needs to be honest. She needs to answer questions now that she's retired. She should harbor no secrets to hide the corruption that was running rampant on her watch. There's something there that she's not wanting to share. She just wasted everyone's time & money for the dog & pony show. This shows that this Administration from top to bottom is corrupt regardless of anything Obama says that there's not a smidgin of corruption.....you know the guy is lying because the investigation is ongoing & NOT closed.

So why not answer the questions?

Your troll is strong today.

What you are forgetting is that the possibility of criminal prosecution is sufficient. One cannot conclude that her answers would be bad for her. Rather, what one SHOULD conclude is that she realizes that she has become a pawn in the GOP's gotcha game with the administration.

Issa & Co. have threatened her with criminal prosecution precisely to get her to come in and take the Fifth,. Then they, like you, can make the unjustified leap of logic of "ohhhhh, see? She has something to hide!"

When in fact you cannot make that conclusion. It just sounds bad. Pretty obvious situation.

she couldn't take the 5th if this played out like you claimed earlier. It wasn't just a couple of low-level employees in a single office doing it on their own

Your post makes no sense.

If Issa & Co. merely utter the words "crime," "misconduct," "prosecution," etc. then any lawyer worth a nickel will tell her to clam up. She's retired, there's no incentive for her to get any more involved. And of course once the '16 elections are over this will fade into natural obscurity, as it should. But in the meantime by calling her back -- and knowing what she will do -- Issa & his hacks get their fat ugly mugs on Fox and just smirk at her declining to answer. Keeps it, and them, in the news.

Its an enormous waste of time and resources.

what charges can they bring if she did nothing wrong? If this is simply the work of a couple rogue agents in Cincy she shouldn't even have knowledge of their activities

yeah this is the waste of resources and not the admin using the IRS to target political foes. Good grief you're a hack

So this isn't about the truth, this happens to be only politics at play here.

Do you think the entire truth has come out in this matter?

Issa & Co. have threatened her with criminal prosecution precisely to get her to come in and take the Fifth,. Then they, like you, can make the unjustified leap of logic of "ohhhhh, see? She has something to hide!"

Which looks even more evident today with her continued stance of "I will take the Fifth." So you are in the legal profession, ever hear of immunity? You think Issa and company haven't offered that behind the scenes?

Now allow me to put on my conspiracy hat. Let's play that tangent out. If she was granted immunity from criminal proceedings, why continue to put on the stance she has? What further is being hidden? How high does the targeting go? Who else knows about what happened?

Significant questions that should be answered as the People have a right to know.

When in fact you cannot make that conclusion. It just sounds bad. Pretty obvious situation.

Yep, first thing you've said I agree with.

If you guys remember Obama said he was furious over what had happened at the IRS if true. But since he said that he was furious about it there's been NO peep from him since he said NOT a smidgen of corruption within the IRS while an investigation is on going & NOT closed by Congress. They are hiding evidence of Obama using the IRS as a tool of intimidation on the Tea Party groups & to those that seem to be a threat to his Administration.

I thought they drug her back in based on the stance that she waived her 5th Amendment rights by proclaiming her innocence. If that's the case, shouldn't they be slapping her with a contempt charge, at the very least?

I would think she, being completely innocent, would jump at the chance to tell her story. Imagine the hit to the Republicans intimidating this poor, victimized woman who has done nothing wrong.

This is a slam dunk for the Dems if she is beyond reproach. Politically, it's good for her party. And we all know what's good for the party trumps all notions of 'what's good for America', truth and fairness.

I guarantee they'd rather have her speak freely than take the fifth.

Well hopefully she will be made an example. With team Obama the 5th probably won't be around long anyway.
