JMO but I don't think Hubbs and friends would post something that they didn't have a trusted source confirming. That means not a media member.

Social media. I don't think anyone really knows but the powers that be. In any event it will cost the university many millions in lost revenue to tell thousands of fans that their opinion is worthless and they will have to accept what is put before them.

Not that I believe that there's any kind of plan to bring Bruce back but really, what else is a source in and around the UTAD going to say right now? You have a coach still fighting for a job.

I think Hubbs is the best in the business but I also realize that you have to take what he says and realize the circumstances surrounding it.

whats funny is its gotten 50+articles 3-4 national writers and its FEBRUARY!! lol.. They are worried about "hanging chad" and its not even about that in any form or fashion, were not recalling a governor. It publicity, Harts not going to assign a committee to go thru them. lol In March its just going to get louder and stronger. Grass roots baby!

If UT makes the tournament, it won't matter IMO. I don't think he deserves to be coach but he'll get an extension if he makes it to the dance.

I think he has to win one or possibly two games in the tourney. thats my guess. No one is going to tell Hart what to do, its not his MO. The Crimson Viper does his own thing.

PLUS Hart does have the excuse of not "making" the tourney but relying on the hand of fate to make it. which is Martins only chance other than outright SEC tourney. Hes a Nice man, great role model. no butts in seats

Hubbs and Lewis have been saying for weeks that Pearl would be rehired. this was not something new from them. Every time they have gotten the question (really since December) they have replied with no, in their opinion.

March this things going to be the loudest thing you hear in Knoxville. We miss the tourney its going to go nuts. Scorched earth, who wants the job with this much now and whats coming later. their agents going to say "no no no, its Pearls town" and it is......

30k by tonight would rock the world.more articles, more talk....more "WHY?" cant we rehire Pearl and another team can. If someone sees Hart dropping off the Black curtains at the dry cleaners....then you all against rehiring him(very low percent) may be right.

Not hiring Pearl is a slap in the face to all UT basketball fans.

Unless the guy committed a heinous crime that none of us know about it, there is literally 0 excuse to not rehire him.

And being afraid of the NCAA is not a valid excuse, because another school will happily hire him and win big.

Problem is there are way to many egos the size of Alaska involved. When that's the case, seldom are the right decisions made.

That was referencing the previous administration. We don't know how this AD will respond. Do I have the slightest confidence they will get it right this time, whether it be Pearl or another solid hire? Absolutely not.

The basketball coach is supposed to be in control. If compliance tells the basketball coach something can not happen and it happens, it's on the basketball coach, not some lackey down the food chain. Especially when said basketball coach is already eye balls deep in a s*$# storm.

Just to be clear. He (Pearl) was explicitly told that this could not happen. That's as specific as I can be.

The fan base doesn't run the show. Some fans think they do, truth is they don't have much of a say. Guess that's frustrating for some.

Ask Fulmer how much say the fan base has? The voice we have is with money, griping on a message board does nothing.

I find all of that hard to believe.....I think it was to give public justification for his firing after they said they would support him knowing how popular he was as our coach. We blinked when pressured by the NCAA.

That same group of people couldn't stop Pearl from being fired in the first place. By the same token, they won't be able to get him re-hired.

The AD's job is to act in what he believes to be the best interest of the program, not to give the instant-gratification crowd everything they want.

I agree with the second sentence. I'm sure that a guy who could walk into Dave Hart's office with 1.3 million, plus 60% of his 5th year and whatever is required for the assistants would at least be heard. :p
