He purchases his own airtime from stations and sells his own advertising. He was doing it on 1180 before the station was purchased by TSR. TSR wanted their own show I assume. Makes sense. Basilio had the lunch hours and was also running competing promotions.

That would be equally crappy... But rumors of Barbee being gone are not as strong as those of Grant being gone. And Alabama does have a very good recruiting class lined up at the moment. So if he could hold on to those recruits, his cupboard wouldn't be bare either.

Anyone who thinks Hart/Cheek will, or has, hired any coach at UT or anywhere else they've been for that matter, is very naive. Athletic directors, and university presidents do not hire coaches at big time sports schools. Haven't in years. They may make a recomendation or two, but that's it. The actual "hiring" is done by the big money donors. Now the AD, in particular, will get the heat when things don't work out; that's why they get paid big money, i.e., take the flack so the big money donors don't have to. But let's be real, the Haslams, Andersons, etc. and their cohorts make all the calls.

No AD has ever petitioned or requested a hearing for a coach hit with a show cause to come back early to my knowledge. It was to my understanding that Pearl could still coach, he was just severely limited in recruiting and different basketball functions...basically creating such a fine line that the NCAA would likely find reasons or actually find something to bury our program. Still, if Pearl was hired unofficially with an actual staff, nothing prevents his coaching staff to recruit until his show cause is up. I don't see that happen but there's tons of stuff that could be done if you wanted to safe a class and get Bruce.

Second, Pearl will not be coaching for Bama next season. Ppl exaggerate Grants hot seat status. He gets at least another year or two. He's got a decent class coming in and from everything I've read from Bama writers to quotes from the AD...he's not going anywhere. Clearly you don't publicly come out with that and show support but I don't think Grant leaves anytime soon.
