Where did life begin? (Merged)

Do you believe we have a creator, aka "God"?

I left out the word "likes". I'm trying to workout and argue theology at the same time. Errors happen. I only hope you can forgive me for them :)

Personal attacks tend to to follow the inability to refute the content of your post.

My personal bias is well documented in these forums. for those of you who don't know, I'm a Conservative religious nut job. I believe God created all things billions of years ago and gave it a push. from there everything evolved after it's own kind. My question is for those who come from an opposing view point.
How did life spontaneously start form non living mater?

How did life spontaneously start form non living mater?

There are scientific theory's of course. But lets examine your question logically, if life cannot spontaneously start from living matter - where did your god come from? Answers like 'mysterious ways' and 'it's too much for the human mind to comprehend' are cop outs. If you don't know, then say so - but that'd mean you couldn't reasonably deny the primordial soup theory of life.

The difference between people like you and I, is that creationists profess to have a biblical answer of certainty. Whereas I can freely admit that there is no way to be certain. Since there's no way to be certain, reason, logic and lack of substantiated "grand design" evidence dictate that making assumptions on answers without evidence is intellectually dishonest if not outright silly.

Earlier, you said you gave me a "biblical beech slap". Your response reminds me of an anecdote about a pigeon strutting around a chess board, knocking over pieces and claiming victory. Your presupposition that your knowledge and mad biblical skilz carry's weight is comical. One must believe that the bible is a factual description of the origin of life for your argument to hold water - I hold no such belief. Copying and pasting walls of biblical text to support your argument is an exercise in futility.

The bible isn't true, just because it says it's true. That's circular logic at its most egregious.

So men didn't write the bible? Did Jesus sit down and write the New Testament himself? If so, he could have done better. Really the entire plot was just kinda boring to me. They even kill off the main character in the first book!

Please elaborate on How the Bible could be improve with specific examples ....

As to the "Plot" ... the Bible is written as one book but 66, and the main character was not Killed off in the first book...unless you are counting able as a main character???

Are you literate? Did you miss where I stated New Testament?

I can really only imagine how hard it would be for someone with any amount of pride to admit they have been worshipping an imaginary being for the majority of their life. That's how I try to rationalize their denial, I guess.

Try imagining how someone would feel if they find out they could have had a far more productive and happy life if they know God was real........

"If there were no Heaven and there was no Hell, and this were are there is....I would still be a Christian, it is simply the best life to live" Dr Billy Graham

Aliens.......

The Captain Kirk theory...

Absolutely plausible in my opinion, a starship captain would fit the "supreme" being definition of ancient times.

But, couldn't of God created the "aliens" that put life on earth? I contend that he did so God is still the creator of life.

Wouldn't that throw a wrench into scripture with the Adam and Eve story?

The Enterprise could have beamed them down in the garden. So no.

I also do not subscribe to the idea of the bible being the literal word of God but 100% believe in God and him being the creator.

The Enterprise is not God. Thus, the story would not be correct.

The second part is fine.

I thought you distinguished between aliens and God?

PK don't be dense.

Yes I did but how would the ancients who penned the books and stories of the bible classified an alien in a space ship? More than likely it would be God.

Agreed. The stories they wrote would then be about the aliens (they thought of as God) instead of the real God who made the aliens.

Could be.

I'm in no hurry to learn the truth since there is only one way to do that.

I do fairly well but have my moments ... how bout yourself as you never elaborated on how the New testament could be improved.... by the way without the main character dies, there would be no reason to write it...
