'14 TN WR Josh Malone (UT commit 12/4/13)

TIFWIW an employee of mine who's grandson is on the SC team told me Josh's mom wants him to stay in state at UT. Says he is a momma's boy and will do what she wants.

^^^ Underrated post IMO.

I think it's very much a factor what Malone's mom wants in this decision. If this is truly how she feels, then it's huge in our favor.

I'm finding that Clemson board slightly infuriating. They are talking about how we are a trashy program who are likely paying Malone off... First off they think his cousin is a handler and that's complete garbage. Second off they keep talking about how we are a bottomfeeder SEC dumpster fire. And how we haven't been relevant in 15 years, but my question is when where they last relevant? Have they ever won the ACC/ national championship more than 1 time in the last 20 years and the answer is a big no. They've won 1 national championship ever. we've won 6. They've been ACC champions only once in the last 20 years... They need to get over themselves. Yes we are down, but we are 10 times the program they are

Yep this stuff kills me! Are they saying we haven't been relevant for 15 years because that's our last NC? Ridiculous! When was there last NC? We've been down since 08, that's it, it means nothing. Hell, bama sucked for 10 years, sometimes only winning 3 and 4 games. Elite programs always make it back. We knew bama would. We are elite, they never have been. If their success is relevant without a NC then why is our success through 2007 not? Can't wait till Butch get this thing going!

Does anyone else feel like this scenario has played out numerous times over the last several years. Highly recruited player x is down to Tennessee and team y....he chooses?? Man I don't want to lose an in state player of this caliber!

Am I the only one here who feels like this Clemson thing is nothing more than Malone wanting there to be some speculation leading to his announcement tomorrow?

Leave the mudslinging to the little brother programs. It belittles us to even be concerned about an ACC program's comments.

Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't sound all that good IMO. Hopeful and 50/50? If that is the feeling the staff has going into today then I'm not sure it's going to end well. Still cant believe he would choose Clemson of all places. Just crazy to me.

Hard to judge. What's he going to say to a stranger? Not like he's gonna do a double-pistols, thumbs-to-chest, and say "V, B!!!"

If Malone hasn't given them an indication one way or the other, there doesn't seem to be much anyone can do on either staff but be hopeful.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but I won't be shocked either way. Hubbs said the Vols had the momentum yesterday, so I guess that's the best news we can hope for short of a committment.

One saving grace is that if we don't get Malone we might have a shot to get back in with Lauderdale.

This. We've been bad the last 5 years and beat USC 2 or 3 times. They're 0-5 against their in-state big brother.

I think that's a real possibility. I know most people in the know keep saying he hasn't decided and it's coming down to the wire. But UT has been the constant in this entire thing. First it was, "UGA is the leader now, he's going to be a Dawg.", then it was, "FSU really wow'd him, he fell in love with FSU and looks to be a Nole.", then it was, "Clemson really jumped ahead of everyone, he wants to play with Watson and distance is no longer a factor."

Maybe it's all true and he really has had a handful of leaders over the last month or two. Or maybe he's been a UT lock for awhile now and didn't want to let the cat out of the bag? Neither would surprise me.

Clemson fans need to take a look in the mirror...

That is exactly what I was thinking. Maybe I'm just biased but kids do this all the time no matter how closed or open their recruiting process has been.

Announcing is a big deal for these kids and I just think he wants people to pay attention and not just go.."oh its definitely UT lets move along here." JMO

Surely we wouldn't expect ZA to tell a random fan on a plane we have Malone in the bag would we???

If he said its 50/50 that's exactly what he should say regardless of where this stands

ZA: "Well I tell you what #1Volfan85, that is your name right?"

FAN: "Yep"

ZA: "Well, just between you and me, it's in the bag. But don't go tellin' nobody, ya here?"

FAN: "Oh, of course not." (as he's digging out iphone to log into VN)

Totally agree with this...several teams have come and gone, but Tennessee has stayed right there. Based off how the Malone's have handled things, maybe this was the best way to be sure TN was the right choice. Give other teams a fair shake and see if the feelings about TN changed. My gut tells me they have not...Im going with all VOL!!!
I have not spoke to anyone on a plane, work or relatives...all speculation...lol

Recruits you have to bribe or play in the grey areas for never turn out being worth it. You can't have a character kid that you have to bribe to get in your program. I'd think the Kiffin experiment would have taught us something about dirty recruiting not being successful in the long run.

Butch is doing things the right way. Let the haters hate.

that's quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read

Assuming we win out on this one, it's actually a good thing for this to be a "surprise" as it creates more media attention for not only the recruit but for the program as well. I see no issue in the kid getting the most out of his moment; I would however hope to heck he doesn't do the hat thing. It just seems cheap and most of his recruitment has been handled so maturely for a high school player.

Lol.

It's crazy some think he would tell some random anything.

We obviously try and make formulated opinions on what is going to happen but we try and stick with giving you guys the information that we have. To me, that's more important than a prediction because at the end of the day these guys are just 17 or 18 year olds and can change their mind at a moment's notice.

Concerning Josh, I think he picks Tennessee tomorrow, but I certainly don't know that to be true. Tennessee has had good momentum since their in-home visit with him on Friday night.

I know neither staff knew what he was going to do when they left his house last night and I was told this morning that Clemson made a very compelling argument during their visit with him last night. I still don't that Josh has fully made up his mind yet so I don't think this one is over yet.

As we always try and do, we will try and keep you all updated with everything.

You must not visit the FF much.

Care to elaborate or just throw around insults and leave it at that? Feel free to point out how many of Kiffin's recruits are still helping this program out. Also make sure to elaborate on what a great influence recruits like Nukeese were on our program.
