'14 TN WR Josh Malone (UT commit 12/4/13)

I'm not so sure. He said that the recruit said " I don't know what Josh is going to do ANYMORE". That seems to indicate to me that the recruit did know and Josh has told him directly that he isn't sure anymore. Or that Josh was talking about it to recruits and now isn't for whatever reason Neither one is good. Jmo.

How is him keeping things closer to the vest towards the end of the process a bad thing?

I don't follow.

Dobbs has done well for a true freshman. I'm sure Malone sees this. I'm sure he knows we need more playmakers to help out Dobbs next year.

I would have agreed with this until Saturday. He was absolutely atrocious. Yes, Malone was out and we have zero playmakers out wide without him, but that shouldn't affect his decision making, or force him to throw for just 16 yards until the final drive. It was very hard to watch him on Saturday.

Right? It is like he looked like a true freshmen starting the biggest game of his life in front of 102,000 people or something.. in weather he wasn't accustomed to.

If Dobbs is the starting QB for game 1 next year, I will be very surprised.

In think this Saturday is huge for him in a number of ways. Mentally is the biggest.

If he plays well in Lexington I think he will have a very slight lead heading into spring practice with Fergy being right behind. JW is certainly in the mix as well

i second that!

What exactly did you guys expect to see from a freshman quarterback throwing to sophomore and freshman wide receivers?

I think he handled himself pretty well in the Alabama and the Missouri games and obviously regressed a little against Auburn and a lot against Vandy. I want to see him go out and have a big game against UK and then come in over the summer and compete with Ferguson, Peterman, and Worley for the starting position.

I don't believe he has shown anything to make us doubt his future potential besides a lack of elite arm strength.

i will say that our play calling is pathetic! but i must be watching a different game because Dobbs hasnt looked that impressive to me! i will be surprised if Ferguson is not the game 1 starter. or it will be worley.

Agree. He's a true effing freshman who's development needed a RS year. I also like how people forget that he actually made what would be the game winning play on the TD.

Freudian slip... :)
We're all feeling it and have mentally moved on to next year!

If Pig didn't hold, Dobbs touchdown, Vols Win.

You only get players for 4 years. Expecting players to be at least servicable as freshman is not asking too much. You're good, it shows. Bray walked on the field his freshman year and nearly saved the season. Dobbs takes over and a somewhat promising season goes down the toilet.

Maybe Dobbs turns it around. But IMO, we have to hope Ferguson can play, because the staff can't go back to Worley next year, so one of the young guys is going to have to play.

So no player gets a RS anymore? And does the WRs Dobbs is throwing to compare to the NFL dudes surrounding Bray?

Bray had D Mo, Hunter, GJ, Rogers, Rogers,Stocker

Dobbs has had North but he didn't Saturday. Then there's pig who they don't utilize. Bout it. Huge difference.

This is true. Countless times Bray slung it up into double and triple coverage as a freshman only to have D.Mo or Hunter sky in the air and make Alvin Harper plays. Bray also had an NFL TE. Apples to Oranges imo

Don't even begin to put Dobbs in the same category of passing talent as Bray. Like him or not, he could make any throw as a freshman. It took Manning 3-4 years to be able to make some of the throws that Bray made as a freshman.

I would say CBJ going to have dinner with his hs coach when meeting with bell wasn't allowed constitutes a full court press. Yes that was the 11th hour but that's where we are today with Malone

The point was if during the entire course of Bell's recruitment, if Dooley had paid even scant attention to Bell, much less put on a "full court press", Bell would've been a Vol. Jones came in at the 11th hour and did everything he could to catch up and get back in the game with Vonn. No one can accurately say that UT "put on the full court press" with Bell during his recruitment and it didn't work.... it's just not true

IPTAY - the reason that Klimmsin has always been able to recruit. Why else would anyone choose that little bitty school in the middle of nowhere to go to school?

So their season ticket/athletic fund is what gets kids to go there? Interesting.

Our Tennessee Fund isn't doing a "good" job then.

Not close to being true. Go watch that bowl game at the end of his freshmen year and tell me how many throws he couldn't make
