The Bizzaro World of the BCS, the Gators, and UT

no... i think nothing looks worse than Tom Coughlin on the sidelines. Poor guy even makes me, an all-american at hating the giants, feel bad for the team and their fans

Stupid stuff Meyer tries to pull off drives me nuts.

This is the SEC not the MAC or the WAC.

I am Urban Meyer, I invented football!

:furious3:
i was just glad the D line stayed at the ball........the O line was standing on the other side of the feild like "uh oh".

priceless........and i couldn't figure out why they, FL, wouldn't call a time out in that situation, given out the defense llined up.....oh well. if it's bad for FL, it's good for me, so i'm ok with it.

I am sure the players and coaches thought it would work.

Don't they know who we are? We are Florida, they are supposed to line up on the other hash mark.

Face it, when UT played UF, they just had a bad day. If they played UF now, UT's offense would roll over the outmanned UF defense that got a lucky breaks that day. UT is much better than UF right now and will win the SEC east without a lot of trouble. UF---a minor bowl is on the horizon--Atlanta will be great on new year's eve---watch out for the muggers, however.

Yes. I think I've said that about ten times in the last two hours.

But that doesn't mean you will, and it doesn't mean that if you do you are better than Florida, and it also doesn't mean that if you do then you have a prayer against LSU.

Well, you would have a prayer.

Let's go by your reasoning, UF beat UT so UT has no chance to beat LSU.

Well then this is true USF is the best team in Florida right now..

Is this "goodolerockytop2"? Either way this is plain silliness.

Its not a simple question of who beat who. Its a question of how well the teams played, the very evident gap in speed and athleticisim, and the fact that everyone who watched UT-Fla. came away not just thinking that UT was not well prepared, but that in fact no amount of preparation would have changed the winner because UT did not have the horses.

Please understand. I am not saying that because of that game all UT grads are mouth-breathing mentally challenged rednecks. I am not saying that because of that game the State of Tennessee is "second" to the State of Florida. I am not saying that the situation will always be the way it is right now. What I am saying is that right now Florida just plain has much better football players.

Why do people not want to acknowledge that? Its not a moral judgment. Its an assessment of players' abilities. Goes on all the time.

I'll have 5 gallons of that Kool-Aid, thank you very much.

and yet they are still in second place.

Don't you get it LG, nobody gives a rat's behind about how great your mighty Gators are, go wipe Tebow's nose and get ready for your next team, right now we're in the driver's seat and Fl's in the back seat wishing someone would turn off the replay of the LSU/Fla game.

Tebow real deal? Well, its depends on your definition of real deal. He is very, very tough. A great competitor. Strong runner. Has strong arm. At this point, I do not think he is going to be a great QB outside of the UF system. He basically just throws bombs to open WR's. Watching his "passing game" and Ainge's "passing game" are like night and day.

Are you serious?? Ainge's longest pass is what 12 yards or so?? I think I am seeing the second coming of Tim Couch. :eek:lol:

I do agree that Florida was the better team, but after the fumble return, Tennessee quit, and Florida didn't. That is why it looks so bad. If it hadn't been for that one back-breaking play, I believe that the game would have went down to the wire as it normally does. Florida isn't that much better, I don't care what the scoreboard says.

There's a real easy way to determine who the best team in the SEC East is. Turn on your television around 5 PM on the first Saturday in December. The team you see on the field in Atlanta is the division champion. You play to win the game. Scoreboards aren't just for annoying commercials. The numbers on them are very important.

you'll find nobody who assesses QB talent at the NFL level placing your lefty Tekulve in front of Ainge as a passer.

Florida played a better game vs. Tenn. It's that simple. Tenn did not make the plays. They were clearly a different team two days ago. That's not saying that UGA sucks, that's saying that our players finally stepped up and used their talents. Just because Florida gave us a thrashing does not mean they have better players. Does App State have better players than Michigan? Does Stanford have better players than USC? Does Illinois have the best players in their Conference? Does LSU and AUBURN have better players than Florida? The simple answer is No. Those players are just making the plays when it counts and when it matters. Tenn just wasn't doing that so far this season, and I'm not so sure the team that showed up on Saturday will show up for the rest of the season, but either way, that does not make our players worse than Florida. There are players on each side of the ball on each team that are better than others, but you can't say all the players of Florida are better.

Okay. I've never said that UT was better than UF this year. 59-20 sums it up.

That said, USF is still better than Florida.

but this argument undermines your point about how closely you played the Tigers this past weekend. LSU was clearly the more talented of the teams (as was the case last year as well, but you still won a NC). The scoreboard actually helps your squad look better in this case, but the talent differential was significant. In fact, Harvin was nearly absent because his speed was matched and people have had some time to prepare for the fluky offense.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying UF's jort wearing, feathered mullet wearing rednecks are any lesser people than the Bengal Tiger types. I not saying that Gainesville blows and Baton Rouge is mecca. I'm not saying Floridians are second rate citizens. I'm just saying that LSU had a better team last year and currently has a better team than UF and has to overcome some poor coaching to win (they didn't last year and did this year).
