Ummm, the quality of their missing players was SEVERELY better than the quality of our missing players. Did I mention SEVERELY? :ermm:

Maybe we should go back and reinstate all the players we have lost for whatever the reason since 2009 to level the playing field. $hit happens and that's exactly why we are where we are.

Hoping Mizzou gets a little beat up in SEC play before we face them. Playing nothing but cupcakes so far has helped them.

The football forum is just down the street. Go two blocks and take a sharp left. You can't miss it. The other negative posters will be waiting on you. :good!:

I hate Georgia with a passion. I am looking forward to the future of the Vols. We are a ways away however in my opinion. The posts I have been responding to have made it seem like regardless of Georgia's injuries, it would have been close. I just disagree with that opinion. :hi:

There were the Twitter posts from fans and messages to players. Even I got a text message to pass along to the Vols. VFL Wes Brown, who ended his career with knees aching diving into the endzone for a touchdown against Vanderbilt on the last play of the game, sent me this:

"Proud as hell of those boys. They got some damn fight in them. Let them know we are proud."

I asked Brown if I could use the text in this story. The reply was a quick one.

"Absolutely. Man I'm fired up over watching these guys. That was something special."

Saturday, Jones' team lived that theme. They battled adversity. They showed heart. They showed promise and in the process they took a step in restoring pride among fans and former players.

Added Brown via text, "That's what playing as a unit does for you. I'll be there for the South Carolina game."

It wouldn't be a stretch to say there was a matter of pride in Brown's text.

Really glad we have a bye week. We'll be ready to kick the cocks ass in 2 weeks. They almost lost today to UK, at home. They have to travel to Ark next week and then to Knoxville, they'll be tired and beat up. We'll be rested and full of confidence. I'm looking forward to Butch's signature win vs. a ranked team on 10/19. GBO!

Bye week comes at a really good time for us. Gives the team a little extra time to bounce back not only physically but also mentally from coming so close to a huge win. It really sucks we lost after being so close but if the team can keep the momentum going a pretty good 2nd half to the season is very capable.

Any in game injuries ... For our fans?

Personally I skinned my ankle in my basement doing some kind of cheer/maneuver/sliding fist pump when we blocked the punt and Swafford ran it in.

It's been a LONG time since I had that much to get excited about that late in a game against a strong SEC foe.

Call me crazy, but I don't think we will be as bad next year as many think. Granted we lose a ton of talent on our O line, but not a lot else, and our skill players are all a year older. Plus we will be getting 1/2 of our very talented 2014 class in as EE's. I could see us making huge strides between now and then...

Agreed. However, this game was close because of their injuries. Period

NO this game was not a blowout by us due to Fooley being a bad recruiter at OL and DL and LB and a bad coach with a lot of staff turnover which means a lot of these guys are actually being coached with everyone on the same page for the first time in their college careers
