"Myth" is a near perfect word choice here. Stories about Peterman being the key to win this game is nothing but a myth.

Peterman doesn't have to be the "key" or become a "myth", he simply has to direct the offense well enough to get us a victory. Expecting a Heisman type performance out of him is unreasonable and it shouldn't be needed.

Because espn has been saying all week that there is no good games, and it's just this week. So I guess they decided to go to the lower division Team who has been winning championships or good for a few years

Only one matchup between top 25 teams this wknd, ASU vs Stanford.

Out here on the West Coast, people screaming disrespect for the PAC 12.

Respectfully disagree..the QB spot is a critical component of the zone read offense. With our lack of elite RBs and WRs, we re gonna need a masterful performance from NP in order to win the game.

Simply directing the offense against a caliber of UF ain't gonna be enough. If this were the case, Worley would be starting.

A SEC Gameday employee said that ESPN did not want to have Gameday broadcast over a game featuring a team that got blown out the week before.

Agree. We aren't good enough across the board to get a c+ from our qb. We need someone who will make plays there. Hopefully np will be that guy

There's also an issue that no one wants to talk about, and that is the sales job done on this lower-income high school athletes while they are being recruited. They are being lured with the idea that if they go to this school or that university, the right decision will lead them to the riches of the NFL and they will be set for life.

Sure, most of us understand the value of a college education and the fact the odds are so steeply stacked against being one of the lucky ones to make it to the NFL. But, imagine for a moment what these kids are being told or led to believe when they are 17 & 18 years old. While we think this is so cut and dried, we are looking at it from our perspectives without walking in their shoes for even a moment.

Billions of $ are generated by college football and basketball, billions are paid to conferences like the SEC to televise their games, entire television networks are being created to promote college sports, but we want to get on our high horses because kids like Arian Foster got a big bag of tacos.

Does this sound at all reasonable, much less equitable? I'm not sure where I stand on paying these kids as illegal payments will still continue, but I think all of us can agree the current system is exploitative and unfair...at least from the perspective of the kids who are putting on the uniforms to entertain us.

I am afraid I don't agree. If you don't want to be exploited, go pay for your own education or get a job.

Uh oh. Just heard the commercial from Jonathan Stone about his "lock of the week" pick on 104.5. Last week his lock of the week game was the UT/Oregon game and I'm guessing he was picking Oregon to cover the 28.

Well, guess what game is his "lock of the week" this week. Yep, you guessed it, UT/uf. In the commercial he says something like "you can bet on this game as if it's already been played." Surely he has uf whipping our azz and covering the 16 or whatever it is now, right VN?

changing the premise wasnt my intent with that comment - i just think the number was inflated to make it seem like the kid was getting this great deal

i am not so sure that is the case - college degrees are so watered down and in many cases the colleges due little to promote the student's ability to enter and advance in a good career

never has a college degree set you apart less yet never has it cost more

to me the value differential right now is dramatic between what colleges are charging and what they are providing

jmo

can't disagree about the value. I make more than lots of college grads without a degree. However, I contend that they know what they are getting into and the deal is education paid for in exchange for bringing your skill to the football program. They know beforehand that X school makes millions on football. Just like the company I work for makes millions every year, and I only get a tiny percentage of that. If I don't like it, I can move on.

They announced the North Dakota destination before the UT-Oregon game was even played. Guess ESPN is omniscient now too.

How would you know? He's a redshirt freshman who's yet to start a game.

You've pretty much answered the question. He's a RS freshman, who has little experience, that may be going against one of the best defenses in the country. He hasn't beaten Worley for the job, so we should leap to the conclusion that he surely has the ability to beat UF tomorrow?

The stories are the "myth," not the individual. Who said anything about Peterman having to turn into Johnny Football to win this game?

Anyone think we'll see our offense go as fast as we possibly can any tomorrow? I don't think we've really seen this offense go 100% full speed hurry up yet. Seems when we have gone hurry up, everyone gets lined up quickly and the qb steps back and looks to the sidelines then usually doesn't snap the ball for about another 10 seconds after he gets the play.

Obviously we'll go with whatever pace is working the best on offense but if we're going full hurry up and having some success does that affect uf's defense more as the game goes on or our own defense more?

With the injuries and depth concerns on our defense I'd think we'd wanna try the 3yds and a cloud of dust type offense to give our defense as much rest as possible but who knows, Butch might have a few surprises for uf. Makes me wonder if the coaches were so secretive about practices this week just bc of the qb battle or something totally different.

Obviously, a hurry up offense is about catching them off guard and picking up quick first downs. If we don't do either, our defense will suffer a lot more than theirs will, see the Oregon game. If we are not successful in hurry up mode, I expect them to slow it down.

This is a good sign actually. The one time in almost a decade we win and ESPN blows the programming. I like it. Now let's just win the game so everyone will be talking all next week about ESPN getting blown out by the Vols.

IMO, the coaches need to get the ball in North's hands more, in any fashion possible. There are multiple ways to get him the ball, and we just haven't seen it. On the other hand, I'm not sure that North's route-running is as good as the coaches would like, which probably plays a major role in his ability to get open.

I'm all for Pig playing, but given the nature of this game, I'd rather get him 100% healthy. But, that's not my decision.

I think North has been open plenty, just haven't gotten the ball to him for one reason or another.

Oregon is a much better team than Florida, make no mistakes, guys. Overall, they are faster and more efficient. We stand a much better chance against UF than Oregon. So don't think it will be close to a repeat. That being said, given our talent and depth, we will need a few breaks to go our way to have a real chance. Otherwise, I see us losing by two or three scores.

I'd pay to watch an Oregon vs. UF matchup. And I'd bet on Florida too.
