Breaker Geno looked pretty good for them Sat. Made a few plays.I agree they dont look quite as good this year.

Ricky Seals-Jones and Evans will be huge tests. Also Saban has always had trouble with spread offenses with the type of athletes he recruits. Teams like LSU and Florida have the speed to stop a team like AtM. This isn't a good matchup for Bama's strength(which is the front seven. They'll have to play a lot of nickel. Watch for Sunseri to be attacked again.

So where has AtM recruited? Because they are more than athletically capable of matching Bama. Now LSU will probably end up beating AtM pretty good but I don't see it with Bama. This Bama squad is taking a step back. That secondary is suspect outside of #6.

Seriously? Everyone is saying that Bama is taking a step back this year. Maybe they are but I don't know how anyone can deduce that from an opening game against Va. Tech. A&M beat Rice. Big freaking deal. And I may stretch and find some common ground on the athleticism in some of the skill positions, but Bama will whip them in the trenches and in depth. Manziel is THE ONLY wildcard in the matchup. The kid can do remarkable things even if his ego is bigger than the state he is from. Bama will win by at least 2 touchdowns this year.:peace2:

I've had about enough of Jon Manziel. That said, I wouldn't mind him as much if he was to Beat Bama again. Should be a good game regardless.

Everyone is saying that after Bama beat a respectable team by more than aTm beat a joke of a team.

Hell yes, Colts claimed DaRick. Hope he can realize what he will lose acting like an idiot. I was dying for them to draft CP in the first and then take a flyer on Rogers the last three rounds. Hope he can keep it together. Has everything to be a good WR

Even though I went to the game, I recorded the replay to pick up on some things I may have missed.

1. Pretty impressed with Worley. Overall command of the offense was solid. As far as the read option goes, I counted 1 misread by him so that was good. He showed good arm strength. The TD throw to Devrin off his back foot was impressive.

2. Palardy had a mistake-free game. Very solid opening for him. The kickoff coverage is shaky still.

3. WRs surprised me. I want to see Pig get in space. North had some tough catches. I want him to go off against WKU.

4. DL played good. Hood had his best game by far as a Vol. Lewis looked solid. I heard O'Brien's name called quite a bit. 98 did a great job at stuffing the run. Last point, we had 2 sacks... Who is going to step up and apply the pressure?

5. Things we need to work on: We have to tackle better. Too many missed tackles. Rhythm of the QB and WRs. Worley has to get rid of the ball sooner and WRs should be exactly where they need to be to catch it.

I loved the energy from the coaches and players. I think it speaks volumes that 97,000+ showed up to the game. I think we go over 100,000 with the WKU game. Can't wait to see a little bit more of the playbook unfold.

That's a pick against any SEC team.

It's not dumb at all. Most people are predicting 5-7 wins, right? And what is the main reason for predicting 5-7 losses? Depth. We're all aware of the depth problem but now that the season has begun and predictions are going to happen as planned, we should complain about it on a daily basis? Holy sht man, how do you get out of bed in the morning??

He has a hard time with that considering Carrie Underwood is in there with him.

I allowed it.

So you come after me saying my "credibility"(even though I'm not getting paid for anything :) ) is in question. But I'm belittling posters. I don't know why you guys would whine about a problem that won't be fixed this year. Just enjoy a win and a shutout my man.

Sometime BB can say things that are irritating and come off as arrogant. But he is right on with his last few posts.

Bruin is always wanting to cry about something which is his right to do but it gets old.

Depth is a problem and will not be fixed SOON.

But just enjoy the football season for what it is. We looked like a well coached team. Will that be enough to win the SEC? Of course not. It appears we are in good hands.

We will be in a world of hurt if we lose half our O and D to season ending injuries. Most teams would. Usually doesn't happen and if it does, our whining won't make it any better.

Man up and enjoy the ride. It's football and football is fun as Coach Boone would say.

So in your opinion arm strength is plenty good for JW?

I will agree that I don't remember many arm strength issues last year. Hoping those 2 throws were all about timing and not a strength

I remember the Vandy game last year had a radar gun that had Worley only one mile per hour less than what it was timing Bray. That surprised me.

He can throw a 50-60 yard bomb.

It was not just 2 throws, it was every throw. Not all were so bad that they were uncatchable, but none were in stride. I think he has sufficient strength, but I think he had 0 YAC on his throws.

And this is an issue that has to be corrected. Hopefully, with the season started and him being the number one, he will get plenty of reps to help with timing. Should not be splitting it with four guys any longer.

Has anybody made a thread about dude from. Georgia crying? My God that's hilarious. "My Diddy loved them Dawgs. How we gon beat south Carolina " I can't stop listening to it.

What ever happened to all the posters who claimed games were won and lost in the trenches?

We're finally dominate in the trenches, and all of sudden that no longer applies?

I completely agree with that philosophy, but the only line we're dominant on is OL, period. We're nowhere near dominant on the DL because we don't generate a huge push off the edge.

We're good up the middle but until one of our ends turns the light on, we're the defensive equivelant of a one dimensional offense.

Full disclosure here (not directed at you, 8188):

This mantra of "let's only talk about the positives" on here is getting ridiculous. I'm not a negative poster, never have been, never will be, but the second I, or anyone else, bring up anything concerning about the team, the lunatic fringe chime in and dog pile on the validity of the issue being discussed.

I agree, it's absolutely tiresome to discuss the negatives of the team, and after the last few years, its ****ing old. But if that holds true, then so does the opposite.

I don't mind anyone not agreeing with what I post, I really like the debate, but I feel like this place is starting to resemble the VN equivelant of The Stepford Wives.

All is well..... :ermm: ok...

This goes back to the point I made over the summer; the fact that either a vocal minority or majority (honestly, its hard to tell) on here thinks that CBJ's strides off the field will somehow translate to immediate wins and erase all concerns from last year to this year...is not necessarily a good thing.

I'm all for buying in, because I have, but I'm also for sound logic as well. Dismissing things like the strength and accuracy of Worley's arm, the secondary in general, depth concerns across the board, and a blatant exaggeration of the amount of talent at all positions is reaching epidemic levels on here.

NO...it's not doom and gloom, but they ARE concerns. You can agree or disagree, that's fine, but it's gotten to the point where people who bring valid points to the discussion are "nega-vols" or "bUTch please, we're fine."

Sigh...let the flaming commence.
