Agreed. If the last 30 years have taught us anything, they've taught us that.

Yeah, seems they always play lights out against us. There aren't many years during that time where we looked like the NC contending team vs them. I do remember at least a couple of times where we did, though.

Dale Carter returning 2nd half kickoff for a td to bust open a tight game and won 45-3.

The monsoon game where Mose Phillips (loved him, no homo) stands in the endzone looking at his watch like "it's about time!"

Of course Al Wilson wreaking havoc the entire game in 98. Probably gave the uf qb nightmares the rest of the season lol.

FWIW, Rucker just stated on the Zone that he doesn't see anyone surplanting Worley by the beginning of the season. He did go on to say that CBJ did make a change his last year at Cincy when they had a 6-2 season going which surprised some people.

Worley will start game 1. It's almost a guarantee.

The No. 2 (whoever it will be) will also play. Mostly second half.

Butch will probably then make a decision.

My guess is that by the Oregon game, Ferguson is the starting QB.

Disagree with that last statement. Legeaux was a bum and if anything he waited too long to make the switch

Legeaux really wasnt very good - I was surprised he stayed in as long as he did - is that telling of his preferences or something he uses to learn from into the future?

Good question. I hope Butch used it as a learning moment for himself.

I'd be fine with this. Glad we've got a cupcake schedule to get this sorted out before Oregon.

Wait, so Peterman's stellar performance against our 2nd string defense in the open practice didn't bump him ahead of Ferguson?

Interesting point about Peterson and the 2nd string D. There is a grand canyon size drop off between the 1and 2 defense. I see a lot of people don't realize that. I also think it would be insane to start Riley at Oregon.

Edit: I see SBV put he would start by the Oregon game....my bad

Let’s pretend this is the scenario. Wouldn't you start Ferguson the first two games to gradually work up to Oregon instead of starting a true freshman on the road in his first game?

I'm not sure that people did not realize the drop off between the 1's and 2's. Probably more of a looking at it in the sense of when would our entire 2nd string be playing at one time kind of looking at it. Only in a blow out game.

Individually, the second stringers probably aren't that bad. Especially if sanwiched between a couple of starters. Just an opinion though.

The various media groups have gone out of their way to promote the QB of their choice. There is no QB controversy. Butch os being very tight lipped about who will be his starters at several positions. There is still almost a week of camp left before they begin game preparations for the opener. Even then, it is likely that the competition at certain positions continue on.

Exactly. Which is why I think if Worley starts the season, we'll ride with him until the wheels fall off. (If the wheels fall off.)

I think you all are overlooking Worley's potential. He's a good QB. Not great. But he can be solid with help.

Your first sentence is spot on.

I think today is the last day of camp. After today they have 2 days off and then begin game prep starting Thursday. I think that's what I heard in the post practice media interviews yesterday.

“But tomorrow we’ll come back, we’ll have a full-padded practice then we go into the grind. We’ll have a couple days off to get their legs back. School starts, then we’re basically in game-week preparation for Austin Peay. So tomorrow’s practice is critical. Again, today I thought we gained some valuable special teams work.”

From what I've seen, I believe 3 of the 4 will get an opportunity the 1st, if not the 2nd, game of the season to see how they perform in a game.

Depending on their performance, we will know who the starter for the season will be after the 1st game. None of the quarterbacks are light years ahead of the others; so, I think all should have a chance to show what they can do. Reminds me of 2004 when Schaeffer and Ainge came in.

Butch will play whoever he believes will be his guy. Point Blank Period.

Good is a stretch. Go with the future.

Chris Lowe also said he thought Worley would start first game yesterday evening on 104.5 fwiw
