We have to admit that Oklahoma St has a much better tradition than we have. Smart will be leaving after this year so a starting spot will be open.
tennessee: "with tennessee, it's the coaching staff. Me and coach [cuonzo] martin have a strong relationship with one another."
florida state: "coach [leonard] hamilton and i have been talking and we are also building a strong relationship."
oklahoma state: "oklahoma state has been recruiting me from the start. Coach [travis] ford played point guard, and he has a good feel for point guards when it comes to recruiting."
texas a&m: "texas a&m has been recruiting me hard over the past school year. Coach [andy] kennedy and his staff contact me once a week. They run their offense through their point guard."
"I don't know how involved Tennessee really is with Richmond. I know they offered early, but I don't think they watched him during the spring. His final four is an interesting one in that I'm not sure any of them (UT, FSU, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M) are recruiting him very aggressively."
-Eric Bossi rivals national analyst
Rob basically said we aren't recruiting him that hard right now as well. I wonder what it is that is keeping schools from recruiting him hard? His film was impressive to me.
I don't know this for sure, but my best guess...
I have a feeling Martin might be playing the, "you're the only PG we're recruiting" pitch to Lyle, much like he did with Hubbs at shooting guard. Now, that doesn't mean he isn't pursuing Mitchell, may just be insinuating he's being recruited as a 2, at least to Lyle. Also, Richmond may simply just not be that high on their board, Lyle an Micthell and quite possibly Demery may all be above him. Also, Richmond may have a few character questions, much like Thornwell did that caused Martin to back off regardless of ranking.
I hate to think he's doing the "all in thing" with Lyle at PG, because that's definitely a position of need this season.
Yeah could be. Who knows though.
I'm fine with Martin going hard after Lyle, I just don't want him to put all his eggs in 1 basket and miss out on other quality point guards. My guess is Cuonzo has learned his lesson after what happened with Nichols.
His recruiting is somewhat of a mystery. We made the top 4 but national analysts are unsure as his recruitment has been quiet. I asked on VQ about him and a national guy responded saying he has no clue what he will do.
BTO said that people on VQ said he's not a take right now and we haven't been recruiting him as hard. We have better PG's higher up in Lyle and Mitchell.
I'm not sure how it'd work, you don't wanna run away a skilled PG and risk losing Lyle or Mitchell...but at the same do you risk getting nobody?
Eric Bossi (rivals national analyst) said nobody in Richmond's top 4 has really made him a priority, so idk.
I'd obviously love to have him, but so long as it doesn't hurt our chances of landing Lyle. With that said...I'm guessing FSU.
I take any 2 of Lyle, Richmond and Mitchell.
Richmond doesn't have the numbers Mitchell has, but played with pinson and Giles. One of the most dynamic trios in the country.
BTO why do you want Mitchell over Richmond? Richmond seems to be a better all-around guard, but Mitchell has a great perimeter shot.
