If they're selling Lyle on being the only recruited PG, and they feel its an advantage they have over UL or IU I get it. Robert Hubbs said one of the biggest things with Tennessee in their recruitment was that Martin told him he was the only guard he was recruiting at that spot, he was their guy. They ended up landing him, so maybe they're trying again.
Not necessarily saying its the best course of action, just playing devils advocate.
If the staff told Richmond to wait in mid June, then they are dumber than I thought.
I hear ya. and I get SJAVols point too. I just dont think we are in a position to pick and choose which quality player we take and which we hold off on, till we see if one or two other guys commit. JMHO
This is what concerns me a bit. If its true that Richmond was gonna commit to UT, and coaches told him to wait, they may regret it. If you miss on Lyle and Mitchell, and Richmond got sick of waiting, then what? At the same time, if one of your selling points to Lyle is he's the only PG you're pursuing, well then I guess you have to sink or swim with that.
Were only taking one point guard doubt we take Richmond because Lyle could be a Vol. If he is gonna be a point guard he will be the man. I think Mitchell would be our next choice if Lyle don't come. Richmond may commit elsewhere before we get to him.
Never said don't waste our time on Looney but you have to have a date set when you make a decision to accept another commit before it is to late. If you find a guy you like willing to wait to the last minute great but with Looney I don't expect a commit until September or even later. We could take a class of four and just accept that if eh goes elsewhere. We effectively at this time have only one scholarship to offer if we accept another commit other than a point guard because a point guard will be in this class.Wait....so you're saying don't waste our time on looney, and if a ranked guy wants to commit take him. Yet in the Lyle thread you're now saying don't take Richmond (who's pretty highly rated) wait on Lyle?

I think were in better shape with Lyle than Looney at the present time. I think were in his top two so when you get to that point you wait until the end.
BTO or anyone? Do you think we would excepted Richmond commit if he had committed before Cornish or Cofer had committed?
I think the staff MIGHT take a Mitchell commit before knowing Lyle's fate, but not positive on that one.

You would think they would take Mitchell's commitment. Mitchell is versatile enough to play 1/2 and has the stroke to back it up. It really depends "when" he tried to commit. If it were now then no. But if it were December then yes. The longer this takes then the riskier the decision to lose out on your backups and your main target.
