The Runner's thread

3.0 @ 9:13 today, legs felt fresh, they should feel even better tomorrow. I'll be watching the weather to see if I end up getting to race.

Weekly Total: 16.53 Miles

Where do you look when you are running?

Legitimate question that I've always wondered about. I was an avid runner 20 years ago and questioned whether my style was correct or held me back as a runner.

For the most part, my eyes are fixed on the ground maybe 10 yards in front of me. I'll look up occasionally to scan my surroundings. I've tried to run by looking up and ahead but just can't keep my eyes there.

Just curious what the correct form/style is on where a runner should be looking.

For me, It depends on where I am running. If I am doing a trail run I try to scan the trail from 5 yards to 20 yards ahead so I can try to plan my moves and avoid big holes or rocks. If I am running on a paved path or something of the like I usually look around and take it all in. JMO

Same for me

Finished a 5k race today 27:10 @ 8:48 pace. 3rd in female runners out of 20. 58/243 overall. Woo hoo :)

Didn't end up running the trail race this morning. I wasn't in the mood to get covered in mud. I still got out for 5.22 @ 8:21 pace. I've enjoyed the cutback week nonetheless.

Weekly Total: 21.75 Miles

Muddy trail races are the best.
