any sentient creature could ascertain that my point was that bruce brought ut to the heights of basketball glory, although his tenure was cut short before he could reach the pinnacle, just as neyland brought us to the heights of football glory. Had bruce been left alone to finish the job, we might even have a final four or two to crow about by now. Not to gloss over the ray mears era, of course. I remember the halcyon days of the bernie and ernie show as fondly as anyone else who was there. Although i appreciate the hell out of mears and shower him with great affection for his unprecedented achievements at ut, ray never got us to the elite eight.
Lets face it. Bruce was suitably and thoroughly punished for what were, in reality, minor infractions when he was suspended for the final games of the season by slive and the sec. Unfortunately for bruce and ut, the vile american sports media and someone within the ncaa and/or the sec wanted to make an example of him, although his infractions were nothing compared to what calipari and his ilk have done, and gotten away with, for years. Bruce and ut were victims of institutional bias and incompetence, especially in the person of the feculent and corrupt mark emmert.
