Another Priest Bites the Dust

You're a clown dude. I'm not looking for an argument but not you're being ridiculous.

I am a 1000% confident that I know what I'm talking about. I've already admitted there are some churches that are extravagant, what else do you want?

I'm a clown? Yeah, you're the one denying the anti-Christian notions of a megachurch and admitting going to one several times... and I'M the clown.

It's clear you're confident in what you're talking about, but that in no way means you actually do. I showed you a picture of the biggest church in Tennessee (well, one of their 4 sanctuaries in the ****ing building), and you feebly attempted to advocate a need for $12,000+ in projection equipment when that room seats 1,200 people.

I went to a high school with 2,000 students... when we had meetings in the gym that included the whole school, everything was peachy without all that bull****.

Extravagance is condemned in the Bible. Don't call me ignorant when you clearly don't know what YOU are talking about.

I can tell how roughly how much money ISN'T going towards Christlike endeavors. Just take the average price of a 70 inch LCD and multiply it by a hundred.

As long as that church is bringing glory to God, I am okay with it because when more glory to God is given, people will follow

I'm hardly surprised big money Skins is saying this.

Thanks for proving my point :hi:

You literally just said it's okay when churches spend stupid amounts of money as long as it brings followers.

Buying faith sure is Christlike. I'm sure Jesus would be totally down.

if that's true then it pokes some major holes in the very fabric of Christianity.

Unless those studies/teachings are from the Bible how can they be trusted?

Not really. I don't think you can find one Christian who would tell you that a baby that dies shortly after birth is immediately going to hell. They never had a chance. same thing with people in other religions.

So churches aren't allowed to invest in nice things for their buildings? That church in the picture is obviously very large so the screens are probably necessary so everyone in the sanctuary can see. But you've made up your mind already that it's a "megachurch." As if having a large congregation is a bad thing.

I think you're being very ignorant in your opinions on megachurches considering you more than likely have no idea what the staff is paid and how much of their budget goes out into the community, charities, and other countries.

If you are ok with it, I think you should revisit the message Jesus preached.

They have 4 sanctuaries that size and they each seat 1,200? So almost 5,000 attendees per week? If true, you're $12,000+ would be chump change to a church like that.

"And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

That's already covered.

He absolutely would be down for more followers. They are not buying faith, they are spreading his word through things as simple as stained glass to LCD screens.

There are many studies and teachings out there commenting on the people of other religions and people who have literally never been introduced to the word. I do not believe those people are hopeless and therefore are doomed to hell no matter what. I believe they'll get their opportunity one day.

In this world or the next?

In this world, you are out of your mind.

In the next world, maybe something like purgatory?

You wanna talk about the other costs outside the projection equipment?

You seriously just claimed 12 grand was chump change because it's used in an egregiously large church.

You should just quit while you're blatantly incorrect.

This would be a legitimate defense if, you know, tons christians didn't follow that line of thinking anymore.

so tons of Christians now believe that one can get into heaven without accepting Christ as their savior? Not sure those people call themselves Christians

Really? Glory to god? I thought the mission was to save souls?

One of the reasons I left the church was the use of money. They wanted to expand the building, put in more crap like a coffee bar. At the same time they were cutting the prison ministry budget.

$125k was budgeted the previous year for the prison ministry, they baptized almost 200 people just that year. The churches operating budget was $1 mil plus, they baptized 60 new members. It's not for the glory of god, it's for the glory of the elders and minister.

"When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth. Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Literally has nothing to do with what we are talking about. Try again

Thanks for telling me I'm out of my mind before I even give an answer.

I haven't tried to force my beliefs on anyone in this forum but continue to be attacked when stating my beliefs/opinions.

Discussions on religion on the VN are and will continue to always be worthless. I should have never interjected.

I didn't say that. I was responding to posts because I asked a question about Buddhist.

Relax and get off me.

I can't answer for God as to what happens to others. Ie murderers. All I do know is all sins can be forgiven except not believing.

If you don't like the rules so be it. Worship the devil. His rules are much easier to live by

Are you serious?

According to you, all you have to do is proclaim your belief in God/Jesus and you punch your ticket to heaven regardless of your deeds. That is about as easy as it gets.

In fact, your God (if that rule is valid) is not a God worth praying to or worshiping.

Um, it is. Do you know they're yearly operating budget?

I would have left that church as well.
