Are their some churches that are big business? Sure. I'd put them at about 5% of the total.
Because God states worship no one but him. False idols are a no no
Idols can be many things. A goat. Dog. Cow. Hookers. Cash. Etc.
So the most giving, kind, and peaceful buddhist gets eternal damnnation but the douchebag murderer gets to heaven because he repented and became a born again christian in prison?
Sounds like a screw job, to me.
I didn't say that. I was responding to posts because I asked a question about Buddhist.
Relax and get off me.
I can't answer for God as to what happens to others. Ie murderers. All I do know is all sins can be forgiven except not believing.
If you don't like the rules so be it. Worship the devil. His rules are much easier to live by

Ill have to take your word for it. I know nothing of devil worship.

Oh really? I've seen it so bad as to be told that since I don't grace the church doors but a couple times a year there is no place in heaven for me.
When we stopped going to a Babtist church and started going to a Methodist we were told we were giving up heaven to do so.
It happens all too often, the Church drives people away with this crap!
5%?
Seems pretty low. There are at least 4 megachurches here in Knoxville. Your percentage may be accurate in terms of the actual number of churches, but try factoring in the size of the congregation and the money spent.
Church is a farce. The Christian church is fairly distorted in principal.
Serious question: how many megachurches have you attended... or even entered?
Who cares?
Is there no place in heaven for good people who happen to believe differently but still abide by the 10 commandments? How about those who have never been exposed to Christianity?
How do you define megachurch? I've been to First Baptist Atlanta many times.
I would say that's impossible. If you're a "Christian" you've already professed your faith and are therefore saved.

There absolutely is. I'm not going all churchy but some of the posters in this thread have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to "Christians."
I think it's pretty easy. Massive structure, impersonally large congregation, full sound systems, more flat screen tv's than a season of MTV Cribs, and most importantly... the profit margins.
If the sanctuary looks like this:

It's probably a megachurch.
So churches aren't allowed to invest in nice things for their buildings? That church in the picture is obviously very large so the screens are probably necessary so everyone in the sanctuary can see. I think you're being very ignorant in your opinions on megachurches considering you more than likely have no idea what the staff is paid and how much of their budget goes out into the community, charities, and other countries.
how does that match your previous claim?
There are many studies and teachings out there commenting on the people of other religions and people who have literally never been introduced to the word. I do not believe those people are hopeless.

Extravagance is condemned in the Bible. Don't call me ignorant when you clearly don't know what YOU are talking about.
I can tell how roughly how much money ISN'T going towards Christlike endeavors. Just take the average price of a 70 inch LCD and multiply it by a hundred.
