If it's Strong, so be it. I'm not thrilled, but anyone looks like Lombardi compared to what we had. I just hope he doesn't keep Chaney. And I hope he at least does something about our uniforms, it's time to catch up with the times...

So you don't like our new coach, or old coach, our OC who had one of the most productive offenses in UT history, and our uniforms?

What do you like about UT?

My coaching tier is:
1. Jon Gruden (never happening, so he basically doesn't count)
2. Charlie Strong
3. Jim Mora Jr. (he's real close to Charlie if the contract is right)
4. Jimbo Fisher
5. Larry Fedora
6. Mike Gundy

Sidenote: Watching Brent Pease at UF this year & Wisconsins OC the other night against Nebraska just further proved to me how vanilla & unimaginitive Chaney is at calling plays. You can almost predict exactly what Chaney will run week to week. Pease & Candidate throw in new wrinkles week to week, use a lot of motion & misdirection.

W/ all the weapons Chaney had this year he had no imaginiation in his play calling at all.

I spent a moment this morning comparing the coaches. One interesting thing that I found is that, from what I could tell with a cursory search, Fedora and Strong are the only two coaches who have met head-to-head. Strong beat Fedora's UNC and Southern Miss teams. That and a few other statistical things kicked Fedora off of my list. Strong continues to move to the head of the class (Mora, Jr would be very intriguing as an option).

...to lighten the mood a little. Pretty funny, if you ask me.

I hope that's smoke. Gundy needs to keep his ass in the midwest IMO. His overall recruiting has been sketchy IMO. The facilities and amenities that he has to showcase to recruits should be an easy sell but he's not done it to this point. Plus he's got no coaching experience in the SEC or recruiting ties to the South.

I'm wit cha there. Would prefer that Strong gets a shot. Isn't he being courting by Auburn right now?

NCAA issues aside, I really think Tressel would win early and win big here...and I can't stand the man.

+1. And that is why Chaney has to go. Our offense was good because we had 3 special playmakers. There are a lot of coaches with imaginative minds that would have done a lot better than Chaney.

Question for the board...

Out of all the candidates being thrown around, who is the best BIG GAME coach IYO? With yearly games against Fla, bama, GA etc, the SEC games are like bowl games compared to other conferences. I really think we need a coach that has experience and understands the big stage and has proven he can compete and win those type of games.

Out of all are candidates who fits that mold the best?

Truth. He's trying really hard to leave Okie State. I've heard that after this 7-5 record this season the feeling is mutual.... WAY, WAY over priced.
There are reportedly control issues between Gundy, OK State AD Mike Holden, and T. Bone Pickens.

Gundy may very well be looking to leave if those two will not cede him the control of the program that he wants.

From the candidates that are widely discussed now... Gundy or Fisher.
