Official Jon Gruden Thread XIII

I've said it before - the build up frenzy reminds me of the movie Trading Places and the scenes leading up to the crop report announcement. Any PC that happens will be complete silence like it was in the movie when the crop report was announced. And then the frenzy after will follow suit. This is Hollywood come to real life. LOL :eek:lol:

You know, it's really easy to fire a guy in a public forum, with limited to no knowledge of the details of the situation.

There have been scenarios leaked in other threads that indicate that Gruden has asked for quite a bit that is detrimental/dangerous to the U of T. Now, granted, I'm not saying that they're true. I'm just saying that they at least present hypothetical circumstances where the Gruden hire would be a bad decision.

I agree that, with the right contract in place, Gruden is a home run hire. I'm also of the opinion that no coach is worth a "get-him-at-all-costs, caution-be-damned" contract.

I hope we get Gruden with a contract that is beneficial to both parties. If we can't do that, I'll support Hart and the AD until I have enough information to lose that support.

Two things: (1) I qualified my post with "if it is true...; and (2) I didn't say he deserved to be fired. I said he would need to be fired because it would be really hard for a coach to work for an AD who didn't want the coach.

That's because they have no idea what they are talking about. Hyams said this AM that a contract was never even offered to Gruden. I hate Hyams, like many of you, but it's arrogant to believe we know more about what's going on then him. After all, this is how he makes his living.

They were here in the early AM when the story from Chattanooga broke, which was about 30 minutes after babyvol confirmed this was a done deal. I'll take Jim Haslam source over jimmy hyams.

WTF just happened? Was on here before meeting and everything was looking favorable for us. Now, I come back and everything seems to have imploded.

You can't possibly be surprised. It's been like this every. single. freakin'. day. It's exhausting, but entertaining.

One thing we have learned in all of this confusion: the Knoxville sports media is absolutely horrendous. I'm talking worst level of competence and journalism I've ever seen. Like, not even high school sports beat reporter level.

I don't know how you guys have put up with this schwill for so long

Knoxville sports media is 100% garbage.

Don't have time to worry about PR? What the f has he been doing? If it is not Gruden this has to be one of the worst coaching searches ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If my info is right and gruden is out they better reconsider their PR approach. Terribly unfair to the next coach
