Not that I buy this totally but if true, why would you surmise Hart is not addressing this? Doesn't he understand he will have a **** storm on his hands if he prances out onto the stage with a Fedora or a Golden without even addressing what happened or didnt happen with Gruden? Is he not aware after the end of this season what a half full Neyland looks like and what it costs the university?
I bet if you polled 1000 UT fans, at least 750 of them will say they would be "vastly disappointed" with anyone not named Gruden given how this has gone to date. Rumors everywhere, UTAD unwilling to comment, radio running wild with everything they hear.
How can we expect ANY good coach to succeed under these circumstances that a SIMPLE press release that "Jon Gruden is NOT a candidate for the HC job at UT" would fix if it is in fact over? Until UT does this, or Jon Gruden comes out and says point blank he is not taking the UT job, the next coach has a major uphill battle. If Hart doesn't see this and move to correct it UT football has a long uphill road to fill the stadium again. The few seats I have are not that important to UT probably, but I am waiting to renew until I see how this goes down. I bet a lot of people feel that way and if it ends up being Strong, Fedora, Golden, or Jones I am done for a while. Will get more fishing done and save money in gas for the big boat.
people are going to blame Hart for this, but he can only do so much. Gruden or any other coach will never have full control at the University Of Tennessee at this current time. Football takes a back seat to many different things at this current time and that is out of Harts hands.
