Recruiting Forum: Football Talk II

The information Hubbs is allowed to release is regulated by the UT athletic dept. Dave Hart doesn't want information swirling around. The coaches on staff clearly know info that they are sharing with recruits on the trail. Every recruit that has been visited seems to be happy with what has been shared with them. This tells us that big things are happening. Positive things that will happen at Tennessee.

..

I've been openly cheering for Florida and Georgia all year. I like both squads this year. No crime in it. I like to see good athletic football teams that are playing good football. My own team wasn't playing my style of football. Now my hatred for Bama runs deep.

Come and have a talk with Uncle Tiger.

If what im hearing this morning is correct, and i believe it is, time to move on from Gruden. No doubt Gruden would inject enthusiasm in the fan base and turn the heads of high profile recruits. But the man is unproven at the college level and simply wants to much control, not to mention the guy is a egomaniac. From what im gathering, its sounding like he feels he should not have to answer to anyone anything football related if he were the coach. That will not happen here. Time for plan b.

If true, that's a shame. A real shame.

Given the structure of the relationship of the educational features of the University to the business and professional features of the NFL, it is impossible to impose NFL organizational standards. This is why the games and the jobs are different. Too bad it is sounding like Gruden is not up to the challenge.

So we pass up a chance to win. Great.

I'm not ready for Plan B, but have been giving it more and more thought. There's really only two other coaches I feel would be great hires: Stoops and Petrino. Stoops probably isn't serious about UT and sounds like we've blackballed Petrino (although he'll probably end up getting the privilege of coaching against us next year at Auburn). Honestly, if we don't go with Mora (who I'd love to see at least another year before making the judgment, but oh well), I think I'd be just as happy with James Franklin as any of the other names on our list. I would never have thought I'd say that as a Vols fan, but that's how I feel.

Not that I buy this totally but if true, why would you surmise Hart is not addressing this? Doesn't he understand he will have a **** storm on his hands if he prances out onto the stage with a Fedora or a Golden without even addressing what happened or didnt happen with Gruden? Is he not aware after the end of this season what a half full Neyland looks like and what it costs the university?

I bet if you polled 1000 UT fans, at least 750 of them will say they would be "vastly disappointed" with anyone not named Gruden given how this has gone to date. Rumors everywhere, UTAD unwilling to comment, radio running wild with everything they hear.

How can we expect ANY good coach to succeed under these circumstances that a SIMPLE press release that "Jon Gruden is NOT a candidate for the HC job at UT" would fix if it is in fact over? Until UT does this, or Jon Gruden comes out and says point blank he is not taking the UT job, the next coach has a major uphill battle. If Hart doesn't see this and move to correct it UT football has a long uphill road to fill the stadium again. The few seats I have are not that important to UT probably, but I am waiting to renew until I see how this goes down. I bet a lot of people feel that way and if it ends up being Strong, Fedora, Golden, or Jones I am done for a while. Will get more fishing done and save money in gas for the big boat.

Every great coach is an egomaniac and demands control.

Just because he was a good nfl coach doesnt automatically he is a good college coach. I was hoping it was Gruden too,i mean damn we would have probably had 100,000 fans in the seats for the spring game. But its not sounding good and this info is not from a booster. Ive heard all the booster stuff for months.

the number of coaches that are an upgrade to Derek Dooley is > 1

I absolutely believe we will find a coach who can come in and coach these kids to their talent level - its an important hire and I think we will get it right

Are the names you're hearing line up with the other rumored names out there? Any surprises?
