I'm not calling anybody out but Hubbs is usually spot on, and everybody takes what he says to the bank.

Why would this one time be any different? Why would he be "left out in the dark" on possibly the single biggest hire in Tennessee sports history?

Again, I'm not saying anybody is right or wrong, because honestly nothing would surprise me at this point, I just find it hard to believe Hubbs is way off on this one as some of you are assuming.

One theory is that the AD has told him to misfeed information in order to keep his access. Sometimes you gotta know when to keep your place... son.

I just mean that boosters can't supplement pay and schools can't own stakes in NFL teams, therefore Browns stock cannot be part of a Gruden/UT deal.

True. I wonder if it had something to do once Gruden left UT, assuming he came here. Like if you go coach at UT for a few years and once you're finished, we'll give you x ownership in the Browns. I don't know though. Just thinking out loud I guess.

What exactly has Hubbs reported about the search that is more than just speculation?

Hubbs isn't in dark in sure he knows more than he is saying but he is not in a position to run and post every rumor in the world because he risks losing subscribers etc. people on this site are the opposite. In this site The more you miss the more ecred you are given as long as enough posters can beat off to the news while they can

Nothing has been reported by anybody that's more than speculation..my point is just why is he all of a sudden wrong and left out in the dark on this one?

AD is giving nothing to Hubbs.

AD isn't giving anything to anyone. I know personally two people who work in the AD. One with football and the other with baseball. They have no idea. The only thing they have heard is Jimbo Fisher is/was going to be interviewed.

The information Hubbs is allowed to release is regulated by the UT athletic dept. Dave Hart doesn't want information swirling around. The coaches on staff clearly know info that they are sharing with recruits on the trail. Every recruit that has been visited seems to be happy with what has been shared with them. This tells us that big things are happening. Positive things that will happen at Tennessee.

I didn't mean guys like you vol2002, I meant more of the 'haters' not doubters. It's probably smarter to doubt all of this and not get sucked in honestly, certainly less of a let down if it doesn't happen. But I just get tired of the handful of guys in the Gruden thread and other places on VN that feel the need to constantly call people liars or idiots for posting/believing info that is shared (just like skeeter and OCI in recruiting).

I think if Gruden is the new UT HC those guys should man up and apologize to a lot of people who've stuck their neck out to share information. No excuse for acting the way some posters are acting during all of this. That's all.

I hear you. And believe me, I want to be wrong on this one. I just can't get past media outlets linking Gruden to NzfL jobs, which honestly makes a lot more sense to me given his background.

I won't flame away if we don't get Gruden, although some of the pro Gruden folks have been belligerent as well.

But I don't believe they are all lying (though there are some clear trolls in their midst). They are hearing stuff from someone, similar to what Skeet says aboutu boosters talking Gruden.

I don't know that we're getting Gruden either, but I can't really recall a coaching search where both the candidate in question and credible media sources all came out (during the search) saying that he/candidate X was definitely interested in the job and most likely going to take it. I'm sure this has happened somewhere, but most cases I can think of, the media didn't really know until the AD in question was pretty much set to bring the coach to the podium. And candidate X didn't fess up to being interested until approaching said podium.

I hear you, but it's not so much that as the reports linking Gruden to NFL jobs. Those just make more sense to me.

Why does everyone think that the AD is going to feed Hubbs exactly what is taking place with Gruden right now? Seriously? Have you not given yourself a minute to think about it? I understand that Hubbs is usually very spot on with his info; however, do some of you not realize the media storm that would occur if the AD told him that he can report we are in negotiations with Gruden; Hart is meeting him at such and such a time on this particular day to continue discussing; Gruden is flying in at this time on this particular day, etc, etc.? If you have been in the Gruden thread over the last 24 hours, it has been a 3 ring circus in there, which is exactly what would happen in the media if the AD told Hubbs exactly what is going on. Plus, Hart and Gruden would be constantly hounded by the media to answer questions. Look what happened yesterday by someone outside of the negotiations leaking info to the media in Memphis...Gruden got put on the spot on the Mike and Mike show, which if you listened, he sounded very surprised that they asked him the question. If you don't quite understand the media frenzy around this, then just wait until he is announced as our coach (if and when...I believe it is when). It will be the main topic for days.

From Rivals based on a recruiting basis -

Tennessee - Amazing facilities, a great tradition and an awesome fan base, this is also a primo job in a big way. Tennessee doesn't have the current recruiting talent nor the same rock star recruiters on staff that Auburn does and the home recruiting territory is not great, but this is still the Vols. This is still an amazing opportunity.

"Rock star" is the new most overused term on this site

I am thinking if we want a rock star as a coach we should look at Bruce Springsteen, no. 2 Steven Tyler, darkhorse Sting.

Warchant claims Sal Sunseri is a candidate to replace Stoops at Florida State, along with Doug Mallory, Ellis Johnson, Brent Venables, and Bud Foster.
