Why? They can beat up on nobodies all year and still get into a BCS bowl at the end of the year. $$$.

not automatic after this year so they definitely need to get out - quick

to me Lville is a better ad so I think that piece will move first - should be interesting

Looks like Luper, Trooper and LB coach Tommy Thigpen are still recruiting. From AU Rivals -

"We wanted to do what's best for Auburn and this university," Luper said. "There will be things that will change, but so many things will remain the same, some of the traditions that the recruits fell in love with will be the same. Coaches come and go, that's the nature of the business, but we can guarantee them that Auburn will remain the same. That's the message that we are going to get out to recruits over the next week."

Defensive line coach Mike Pelton has also continued to recruit, speaking with Milton (Ga.) five-star defensive lineman Carl Lawson on Sunday and Immaculata (N.J.) four-star defensive end Tashawn Bower on Monday.

The plan is to visit every current Auburn commit in the next week, starting with the in-state prospects. Luper will however, make a stop in Richmond, Va. on Thursday to meet with five-star running back Derrick Green. Green officially visited Auburn on Nov. 10.

Members of the staff will be in attendance at Friday playoff games of Muscle Shoals (Ala.) five-star defensive lineman Dee Liner and Carver-Montgomery (Ala.) four-star quarterback Jeremy Johnson, both Auburn commits.

SCTiger, Wilkins stated in the VQ interview that Luper was suspended from recruiting him. Now he's going on the road to see Derrick Green??? What gives?

Ron, lot of chatter about a Gruden announcement on Friday or possibly before. How you feeling? I think VN is about to explode with excitement...very soon. :)

That's the word. If/when Gruden is announced UT's new HC it will be quite the party for Vol fans around the world. Champagne is on ice :)

All this soon crap is getting ridiculous. Why wait until Friday, it makes no sense.

I was all in on Gruden but all of this "soon" crap and its about to break for the past week is getting old. Two weeks from now those saying "soon" will act as though they knew all along.

I need a coach hired SOON so I can stop following this like a damn school girl waiting for Beebs tickets to go on sale.

I hope Notre Dame beats either and **** Florida too.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I would love to see ND curb stomp Bama, but it ain't happening.

I would rather have seen UF play them, because they have better chance of beating them. Hate UF too, but Bama is #1 at the top of the hate list. Can handle UF winning a NC much better than Bama. But I know what you're saying.

It is confusing. This is what I have surmised from some pretty good aubs information.

TT and Luper were withheld from recruiting off-campus due to possible secondary violation involving RFoster visiting AU athletic center with the two coaches' kids. It apparently is not now a NCAA violation due to revised rules. Someone talked to Luper yesterday and he said don't believe everything you read in the papers.

Petersen to Arkansas would be great for them and would make me angry. I'd honestly take him here over Gruden.

I don't like the fit of Stoops to UK. They can do better than that.

I'm openly cheering for UGA through Saturday and when they play Notre Dame. Richt deserves a ring he's a good dude.

Really? What makes you think that? He certainly is as good a hire they have had as of late IMO...

UK is not trying to meet SEC standards. They are just hoping to keep up with L'ville.

heres a good article about each schools best fit recruiting wise

Who are the best candidates for SEC jobs in terms of recruiting

Tennessee

The candidates (via GoVols247): Jon Gruden, Butch Jones, Greg Roman, Jimbo Fisher, Bobby Petrino, Kirby Smart, Charle Strong, Mike Gundy, Larry Fedora, Al Golden.

The recruiters’ pick: Gruden

As long as we’re talking best-case scenarios here, Gruden is it on all accounts and that includes recruiting. A Jon Gruden hire would instantly turn Knoxville into a must-visit locale for major prospects. Bringing a celebrity presence that would eclipse even the great Nick Saban, is there anything Gruden is missing from a recruiting perspective?

Worried about Gruden playing catch-up with the class of 2013? Consider the fact that the current television personality has spent more time in most prospects’ living rooms through Monday Night Football broadcasts and ESPN QB Camp footage than all the other head coaches recruiting them combined.

Worried about Gruden taking an NFL approach to recruiting and refusing to devote the time needed to win over teenagers? Ask Steve Spurrier how that’s going. With the right coaches behind him, Gruden would be able to delegate and be that living room closer, that’s all.

Worried that Gruden doesn’t have the huilt-in connections to high school programs or a specific region? At a school like Tennessee that loves to recruit nationally rather than locally or even regionally, the program has never had a coach more equipped to do just that than Gruden.

If the home-run swing connects with Gruden, Tennessee could become a recruiting juggernaut once again overnight.

Alternate selection: Strong. He has recruited well to Louisville, particularly out of the state of Florida. He also knows the SEC recruiting landscape from experience. Give him Tennessee’s facilities and support to sell and watch out.

I'm not sold on boise. A few people have done great at boise and then failed when they took a bigger job.

im just ready to stop hearing about them like they are a national power so i am ready for Cpeterson to take a new gig - kinda hoping he did it outside the SEC just in case he was the man with the magic when hawkins was there
